To give you an idea what to look for. Goto Application Manager, find and click on Google App then Data Usage. Scroll down where you should find the option to Restrict Background Data.

Many other apps have this option and may be using up your data even if you never clicked on them before.

You may also have check it again after any updates.

I'm fairly certain too there is option which can restrict background data on all apps. with just one swipe.

Thanks. Some of those Google services even could be turned off, the others I already had limited like you suggested.

I will have the phone automatically activate for ten minutes in the morning before shutting down again, in this time my WLAN also turns on, and any updates of apps and stuff could be automatically run then. After that time, both things switch off again. I have no need to have the phone running when I am at home. I can manually activate it again when I think I need it.

Data volume prediction tells me I will have consumed less than 80MB mobile data by the end of the the 30 days-interval.

No, Google really will not love me, I think. Thats what I love, however. :D

Just because someone gives you a present, does not mean you are obligated to use it.

I am thinking of taking the leap to smart phones, as well.

Anyone have any experiences on the Samsung xcover.. err.. 3?

I have the non-smarty pants xcover and love it.

I have to recommend LG. Samsung, great company but LG is better and more innovative.

I thought I was lagging behind in solitary, here I am among equals.
Nice discovery.

But, I also will take the leap now, contrary to absolutism like hell will freeze over etc.

For those who are interested, I like the quality of my Huawei P9 lite. GPS sensors are good, camera is top class, Huawei's own user interafce EMUI, based on Android 6, is very good, and while they installed some bloatware, it is far less than Samsung use to do, and more important: you can remove almost all programs easily without rooting. The bang-for-buck ratio is extremely, is very very good, imo. I see that it is offered for 240 Euros.

Reviews say some thigns it does as good, if not better, as some flagship phones of other brands costring twice and three times as much. Goot battery runtime, too, and superb display, full HD, 5.5".

Really, this thing has convinced me. Stomps my Samsung 7" tablet into the ground, en passant. And it is fast. VERY fast. Not a single hangup I have seen so far, not a single stuttering, not a single hickup - nothing.

Get the version for the German market, if you can, it has 3 instead of 2 GB working RAM.

First Fenix (superb LED flashlights), now Huawei. There are Chinese companies who really roll up the world market both by low prices AND quality.

Huawei says the phone is listed to get at least Android update version 7.

The big brother of the P9 lite has a Leica camera - with two optics, one specialising for black/white photography. But the P9 Lite camera is very good already, too - and features the same professional and well-done software and user interface of the big brother. On the negative side: in dark light conditions, the camera is just mediocre and average, there are specialists on the market that do better in dark conditions. But in ordinary light conditions, the camera is excellent, really. I made three Din A4 printouts already, and they fully deliver.

I still have a HTC One, and it is quite good.
