That's the in-game Roster list. Ship names aren't generated from there, but from the SH3 Commander Ship Names list. The Frog provided individual lists for insertion to that master list so Commander can provide names. That is the one which has the wrong names in it.

Of course I will use the Roster list to change mine, and the next update of Ship Names will have all these destroyers included. :sunny:

[edit] Fixed. The May Ship Names update will definitely have all of the new destroyer types on it, so the player only has to install the mod to SH3 and not worry about Commander.

Right, I managed to mess up the Ship names cfg files ... :yep:

Sailor Steve solved the problem already (by copying the content of the roster files, I guess ...)

Anyway, here's the correct content of Ship names_DDE&F.cfg:

[DDE&F]
CrewRange=145|165
0001=HMS Echo
0002=HMS Eclipse
0003=HMS Electra
0004=HMS Encounter
0005=HMS Escapade
0006=HMS Escort
0007=HMS Esk
0008=HMS Express
0009=HMS Fame
0010=HMS Fearless
0011=HMS Firedrake
0012=HMS Foresight
0013=HMS Forester
0014=HMS Fortune
0015=HMS Foxhound
0016=HMS Fury
0017=HMCS Gatineau
0018=HMCS Saskatchewan
0019=HMCS Qu'Appelle
0020=RHS Navarinon

Sailor Steve 04-10-12 06:20 PM

Cool! I didn't have those last four, but now I do. :D

Instead of littering the forum with another thread, I just use the existing one ...

... so, here's an add-on to the destroyer package:

The Vasilefs Georgios class destroyers of the Royal Hellenic Navy, built in the UK on base of the G class, were armed with German guns, making them uniques crossovers.
I produced a model representing them. It comes with several library files, including the gun_SB files created by Sergbuto (the big mods have them already). The 12.7 cm gun has been converted from SOM group's SH4 mod "Battle for the Baltic". For details, please read the documentation file.

Hi, the Frog

As you may know, I usually take any newly released SH3 ships into SH4 for my own use, and this one is no exception. But I'm stuck with the Greek destroyer.

In nod X01 of the Vassileff Giorgios there should be a 3inch_platform, but none of the libraries included with the download have this object. Is it part of an original SH3 library?

Thanks for your help :up:

EDIT: Just found the object in the Guns_UK.dat. Now I need to discover why it doesn't show up in SH4. Apologies for the stupid question.

the_frog 06-12-12 05:04 PM

May sound silly but did you check for the platform to show up after June 41? Before, there should be the aft torpedo bank.

Yes, I know that the 3in gun substitutes one of the torpedo tube sets. The thing is that the 3in gun was hanging in the air :damn:.

After some thinking, now I know what happened. Adding an extra blank line at the end of the .eqp file did the trick.

Thank you again for another wonderful ship!

the_frog 06-13-12 04:27 PM

Did I forget/remove the end mark?

JapLance 06-14-12 01:22 AM

Yes, the empty end line is missing in the original .eqp file (I had to check it).

the_frog 06-14-12 03:28 PM

Very interesting, the "missing" empty end line has no effect in SH3 but in SH4 ... :hmmm:

I don't know about SH3, but indeed in SH4 there has to be an empty line at the end of the file, or the last equipment is somehow not read. I already got the habit of leaving that extra line from editing other games that seems to suffer the same problem.

I see in your blog that you keep creating new ships :rock:. Is that the whole line of J-class destroyers and derivatives?. While setting up your line of 30's destroyers for my SH4 I did some reading on the rest of classes, and it was really messy: different guns in ships of the same class, different mounts... It must be a nightmare to model.

Anyway, excellent work. I can't wait to have them :arrgh!:.

the_frog 06-15-12 05:59 PM

The principal aim is creating a replacement of the ugly stock SH3 J class; for the rest, let's see.
And yes, the J, K, N class follow-ups were rather different ...

Vince82 06-16-12 03:53 PM

I get this message when I try to enable using JSGME. It's conflicting with the Frog's(/your) new NMS Algerine mod.

the_frog 06-16-12 06:57 PM

... the destroyers have an older version of the guns_UK.* files. So, install the destroyers first, then the Algerine, or only install the files in the roster and sea subfolders. Otherwise, the Algerines will have not all weapons.

Vince82 06-16-12 08:34 PM

Vielen dank.

Why do these destroyers don't have sonar? Is there a fix?

Ktl_KUrtz 03-16-20 08:10 AM

I am running the latest version of NYGM.
Do I need to download these ships?
Many thanks if you can help.

It shouldn't matter if you use them or not. If you do, might want to check their sonar/hydrophone settings and match them with NYGM's.

No problem. Me, I don't care how they look; I don't want to see them that close anyway ! <g>.
