Joegrundman is absolutely right, about the only time you see those detailed reflections are at harbors AND with scale models:

We really don't want the game to look like this picture of an RC Battleship, do we? :DL I think most of the time people fall into the "more effects is better" trap and do not consider what things really look like. I have little doubts that this picture I just posted looks prettier than the one from Joe, with brighter colour, reflections, shadows, etc. But what an Uboat commander would see from the bridge is actually what Joe posted! IN the stormy conditions screenshots from the Beta you can clearly see that with no reflections ships look much more realistic.

@ Maester Makman:

Rubini made a mod with new hydrophones behaviour. It is interesting if you can make an optional with the sensors.dat file of MEPv4 (20k, I think) with the Rubini modifications.

Waiting your fabulous environment...:DL

Regards.

Ok, at harbours, models and in almost any place (with water obviously) if you are near enough.

Hi Joe ,
as i told you i fully agree with you about the 'strength' that ship's reflections are showing but ,as i told you , for this are not responsible the enviro files.

yes, there is a way to reduce the occurrence of ship's reflections through the .dat file for each ship. as i said , there is in there the reflection parameters (for each part of ship) and you can reduce (or increase) the distance from where reflections can be vissible (and even to totally eliminate them if you like) BUT this must be made separately for each ship (and for each part of ship). i will show you the same pic with the ship's reflections totally reduced to see how it look!

yes Alberto , i fully agree with both of you but read my above reply to Joe to see what is going on. the ship that you see at stormy weather has reflections but you can't see them becuase of the distance-angle-roughness of sea . (but...reflects are there if i move camera closer to the ship)

@Joe and Alberto : there is also a 'dirty' way to 'hide' somehow (pay attention ...somehow...not drastically) the reflections by using lighter colors to water but the best way, imo, is to start tweaking the ships's reflections at their .dats files

hi Fitz,

yea, i saw the new absolutely wonderfull mod by Rubini and you can be sure that it will be included !
still , haven't test it to see it in action but i know that Rubini knows what is doing so i just need to see the ranges in game to confirm it is working and then...yes...it will be in !

Hi Manos my Friend!

Thatīs my question too, when do you plan to release the wonderful MOD? And the 2nd question, come the MOD with an 16km or 20km atmosphere, or both?

Best regards,
Magic:salute:

Wolfstriked 03-21-12 03:27 PM

Makman, good to see you again or at least your name.:har: Been dealing with severe depression lately where nothing was bringing me happiness, then I decided to do a patrol the other day and I was back in the deep blue sea.Good to see so many innovations been made since my leave and cant wait to see whats new too.:up:

makman94 03-26-12 11:28 AM

hello guys,

sorry for the delay but ,at the moment , i have put this mod to 'garantine' becuase something else (miam...miam !!!) has caught my full interest and i spend all my free 'moding' time to this new mod .
the enviro , as i told you , is almost finished .some details-adjustments(and ...decisions) need to take care and will be ready . i can't say a release date becuase i don't know how long will take the other 'BLOW MINDING' project !

@Alberto: you have a pm
@Joe: here is the (spoken)pic with the ships's reflections totally turned off :

jaxa 03-26-12 11:46 AM

Hmm, imo slight reflection is necessary.

the reflections are turned off just for showing the pic to Joe (read some posts above about this pic)
the reflections can be adjusted ( distance to be vissible) but ,as i said, this must be done seperately for each ship and seperately for each part of it.

joegrundman 03-26-12 02:53 PM

hi makman

thank you for your demonstration. clearly the effort:reward ratio is unfavourable for this :D

keep up the good work:salute:

thank you too Joe,

basically, it is just a 'repeated'-boring procedure that must be done to each part of ship(at each ship) once the settings are reflections are decided.
it is just 'one afternoon' job that i guess we will do at u-boot-hahd as our first release will contain only the stock ships and maybe a few more

bye
