Was this mention on the news, store opening at midnight, row of people in front of it.

First of all, it saddens me that MW has come to represent gaming, like WoW. Second, all I could think was "you bleeping morons". :shifty:

What? My elitist-ness is showing? Oh... *zip* Sorry about that.

Yeah, when I came home yesterday afternoon during the midday break I turned on the news and saw a sad sight of people waiting in front of the shop till it re-opened at midnight to sell MW3.

Really that was just pethatic. :nope:

EDIT: just checked the local game store website...they sell that crap for 57 Euros?!?!
and that's just a standard edition!
Compare that to Skyrim (yes I'll staple my testicles to the wall just for mentioning that) the Map edition will sell for 44 Euros.

You get a M-16/ ak47 (your choice) with 20 magazines, and get to kill as many "warfare experts" as you can...No time limit, just ask for more ammo, I will buy out my own pocket.:woot:

Exactly why I didn't buy it.

People will buy it for the name itself, but after the Treyarch piece of crap rehash called Black Ops, I refuse to give this company my money, even if Infinity Ward splashed their name on it.

I don't care how many jeep commercials they show trying to cross promote...

I refuse to buy a game (10$ more than other new releases) just because they are still living off the fame MW2 gave them.

I miss the old WW2 based CoDs, I was a beast with a m1 Garand.

Nope, Skyrim, Dungeon Siege 2, Rage, and even CoD:Black Ops are all 60 dollars.

Frankly any game company that sets their price to that much is a corrupt game company and not worthy of me buying their games. (Not that I can afford them anyways)

Skyrim - 49,99€
Rage - 49,99€

DS2 & BO are both 59,99€, tho.

Must be a regional difference then because they are all $59.99 USD here.

What I would like to see as a new game, is the Winter War 1939-1940, as I read how fierce the fighting was, and the tactics were. I have visited the War museum in Suomussalmi. I am sure Dowly will agree this would make a great FPS.

Oberon 11-25-11 12:59 PM

Whilst I don't doubt that MW3 bears as much resemblance to Modern Warfare as My Little Pony does to Horse of the Year Show, it does look quite a lot of fun, cinematically speaking anyway...

Dunno actually how good a game it would be if it was about Winter War. :hmmm:

I mean, it was mainly a defensive war from the finnish POV, so it would be rather limited.

Continuation War might make a better game, ignoring the most awesome feature
it would have; StuGs for the Finns, it would allow both defensive and offensive
missions for both sides.

There actually was an fictional review of an fictional mod for Half-life or WWIIOL,
that I read from a finnish gaming magazine Pelit ages ago. Very good read it was,
sounded like a very cool mod, of course, if it would've been real. Sadly, I couldn't
find the article to translate. :-?

The single player in virtually all CoD games is indeed well done cinematically speaking, but the main problem is that it's been paid less and less attention to over time. MW3, from what I hear, is the shortest CoD single-player game yet. The game has become all about its increasingly mind-numbing, lowest-common-denominator-serving multiplayer.

Yep, nice to look at but shorter and shorter. It seems to be about rehashing the MP success of MW4, when that is all that it is, a rehashing.

It still doesn't address the killstreak perks ruining the (mp) game, encouraging people to camp, rather than....I dunno...Capturing the flag/ strategic points, or protecting the HQ.

Just saying. If people just played and didn't worry about stats it might be fun.

I left this game (CoD in general) when my whole team hid to camp, leaving me to capture points on my own, while they worked on thier chopper gunner or nuke...Multiple times, with multiple teams...

Biggles 11-25-11 02:09 PM

Co-Op is decent fun, other than that, it's not worth that much...

What's worse is that appears that BlackOps and MW3 have not only not addressed these problems, but have actually made them worse. The killstreaks are pretty ludicrous now from what I've seen - the game seems to increasingly encourage people to act out the "superhero" and screw any sort of actual teamwork.

Otherwise it's great to have nice cinematic games, but paying $60 for a few hours of play at best seems a bit ludicrous.

For me the peak of CoD games was the early games, especially the United Offensive expansion. Great set pieces, great atmosphere - and simple but effective multiplayer that was obviously meant to be secondary. I wish we could have that again...
