Love it. When the protesters began arriving, their main targets were blocked off by metal barricades manned by police lines. With designated protest areas clearly marked.

Perhaps posting your plans online months in advance is not the best tactic.

About 1000 protesters showed. Chicago 1969 it was not.

Glad to see.

They just will not go away. The numbers are down to a couple hundred hard-core marxists, but now they are getting union support.

Quote:

We spoke to TWU Local 100's spokesman Jim Gannon, who told us that the executive board voted unanimously last night at their regular monthly business meeting to support Occupy Wall Street. TWU Local 100 has 38,000 members, the vast majority of whom work in New York City transit. (TWU has 200,000 members in 22 states.) Gannon said, "A motion was brought up to endorse the protests' goals; I don't know why it took us so long to do it. Right now we're going to be involved in a march and rally on the 5th of October. We'll gather at City Hall at 4:30 and march to Zuccotti Park."
The first domino falls...

If you believe this is a left vs right thing, you've completely missed the point. Try Libertarian:

"hard core marxists" Tell Denninger he's a marxist. That should be good for a laugh.

Osmium Steele 09-30-11 02:23 PM

So, Denninger jumped on a train aimed at his particular bogeymen. Big deal. I wouldn't put him on the political right anyway. He openly voted for Obama.

I do not think it is Left vs. Right, anyway. I WISH it were that simple.

This is Marxism vs. Capitalism. Rich vs. Poor. Class warfare. Rich corporations vs. the little guy... Yadda yadda... You may consider that left vs right, I do not.

There's nothing Libertarian about the founders of these protests; Wade Rathke and Stephen Lerner, nor about the rhetoric pouring from the front lines. The few DoR spokespeople aside.

All you need to see is the list of notables who have shown support by acually showing up at the park.

Noted Libertarians like Michael Moore, Susan Sarandon, Janeane Garofalo, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, Ward Churchill, etc.

Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining.

Shop your obfuscation elswhere.
