Hi,
if you're in for flight sims WW1 style then there are "Rise of Flight" and "Over Flanders Fields". As flight sims, there is nothing more "real" and immersive than those. But especially in Rise of Flight, you might find out that all previous sims were Arcade, and you can't fly at all, not even on a PC :D (I am still not able to properly land some of those crates without smashing my nose, after 2 years - especially the Nieuport 17, the Sopw. Camel, and the Gotha G.IV. Not that i not also manage to also break the DFW C.V in a a landing :-?;)). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGhpB...eature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLFw6...eature=related There's a lot at Youtube if you are interested. I understand what you mean, but as long as there is a PC market (meaning not XBox, PS/3 etc.) there will be simulations - Even SH5 is, if modded, a very good hardcore sim. I am looking forward to more of this stuff. It's certainly a shame that companies like Sierra, Jane's and others quit. Imagine that love to detail with today's possibilities and technical enhancements. Greetings, Catfish |
I still take fun from trying to finetune a car in GTR-2 via the original MOTEC interpreter software. The sim produces a overwhelming ammount of physical data, which gets then presented and analysed in the original analysis software of the pro teams in reality are working with. Can'T say I am good at understanding all the technical stuff, but I learn a lot just from being occupied with the matter.
That is simulation, too! ;) Learning a complex cockpit module and realistic procedures in FS9/FSX (none of the Microsoft default airliners, but the real good stuff by PMDG, iFly, Level-D coming with hundreds of pages in their manuals) - that is simulation, too. If you are after mission drama and battle hectic - I use to get wet sweat-soaking hands when things get really tight in Steel Beasts Pro (and a spasm in my tongue from all the cursing and swearing :) ). Battle-wise, a crowded close distance battle in SBP beats everything I ever had in any other game or sim. And then there is always the option to ignore old graphics and trying to get a copy of "Flight of the Intruder" running. :shucks: |
I used to be pretty realism hardcore gamer.
I've now come to appreciate simpler games. I would feel disgusted playing WoT if it was just 2 years ago. The thing is most people have a hectic real life. They want to blow some steam in some simple fun games. High complexity sims often feel like work than play. I still love realistic games no doubt but can appreciate simple fun games. Hey games are fun because they can be stupid and silly. If I want thinking game I would choose board game specifically Euro type boardgames. I no longer view electronic games as more than entertainment. Board games however I'd call many of those educational and 'training' games. If anyone wants to learn strategy, teach their kids strategy or lessons/wisdom of life, forget Starcraft 2 and play Euro boardgames isntead. No kidding. It's like heaven and earth, Starcraft 2 is no strategy game. It's a game too shallow to have anything to do with strategizing. I'm sorry I don't care if you are the world champion of Starcraft 2 a million times over. In my view you're nothing but a very good gamer not a very good strategist. I'm looking to buy Japanese Go to collect btw for its simplicity in form and its history but have found it is extremely difficult to find locally. |
