+1
my stupid HP touchsmart comes with non working drivers (I WANT MY TOUCHSCREEN TO ONLY SUPPORT PEN INPUT GODDAMNIT!!!!!!111!!)

and the damn "HP health check", it always crashes, how is it supposed to check the health of my computer when it crashes itself?

Madox58 07-14-11 08:27 PM

I could install a clean OS on the HP NoteBooks if I wanted to pay more money.
But they come with the OS as a legal version!
I payed for that didn't I?

Why should I be forced to install all the HP crap on a re-install?
And why should I be forced to buy a legal Clean install with no HP stuff?

Yeah, I've learned the hard way to look very carefully at every possible screen in an "install" dialog. Occasionally I miss something and end up having to go back and uninstall things. My pet peeve is the ones that have every possible add-on and "bonus" piece of crap already selected for you by default. :nope:

I don't want to end up like Technologically Impaired Duck!

Ahh, at least your drivers work
my drivers on work SOMETIMES
and when i upgraded from Vista to 7, the drivers that were provided just stopped working

Madox58 07-14-11 09:26 PM

No the drivers don't work all the time.
That's another several hours just to find something that works.
As an example....
I was told by some software that I did not have permissions set properly
to run some Active X BS!!

Well, several hours later I found the problem in the Registry!
Amazing that HP STILL does not have this answer on thier WebSite!
And what they suggest takes several hours of needless BS and STILL does not fix the issue!

Build your own and do not run any non ESSENTIAL CD's. Thats what I had to do.

I'm afraid of connecting my printer - lord only knows what a 4 year old printer will do to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Just booted it up, so let me rant about this:

GODDAMN DELPHI XE!!!!111ONE!!!
what is it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delphi_XE

its the latest version of Delphi, an IDE

I AM SUPPOSED TO DEVELOP SOFTWARE WITH THIS, AND THIS DAMN THING IS NOT UAC COMPLIANT ITSELF

if you actually think about it, its a small mistake, almost has no effect on it

but how exactly am i expected to develop software using broken software:doh:

Also, I just gotta rant about databases

Office comes with Access, Visual Studio comes with MS SQL, than you get SQLite, Mysql, postgresql, and a whole lot more, all bundled with other software

Really, I have no need for databases, but because i was careless, somehow there is 4 on my computer right now

Well, Amazon is not available in Switzerland, heck none of the big download stores are universally available. Thanks record companies.

Another good choce is bandcamp, allows bands to martek their music directly, many have their stuff on sale on their website. :smug:

Now I'll go back to listening to Johnny Cash sing Hurt on my metrosexual iphone. :haha:

At least you have a good taste in music - that makes you one of the last Mac- guys who will be put to the wall after the revolution :D

Cheers from the guy whose last cup of coffee at work was a metrosexual cafe latte from a Minnie Mouse mug :salute:

Funny story there. I buy and download music from Amazon among other places. Every time I download an album I recieve a message upon installation: Could not install song. What? Of course it installed it - I'm listening to it right now! Then I finally figured out that it was also trying to install it to iTunes, which I refuse to have.

I actually enjoy seeing that message now.

Sony

New Sony laptops come with two pages in the Add/Remove list of just Sony junk.
They are also the authors of one of the worst pieces of software ever, SonicStage.

ISPs

I pay you to put a cable in my house, and let me send things up and down it; no more.
I dont want your useless anti-virus products. I dont want your Desktop Help applications. I dont want your tray icons. I dont want your proprietary browsers. I dont want an e-mail address with you. I dont want your website as my home page. I dont want your help when I typo a domain name.

Symantec

Somewhere along the line you decided to protect people from their own computer, rather than protect the computer itself. You have never once written a piece of software that didnt slow a machine down to a painful crawl. Every machine I have come across that has had Norton on it, has had a virus and multiple spywares still there. Your product is so bad, its own uninstaller does not work. You sell a false sense of security, nothing more.

McAfee
Your product is slow, useless, impossible to configure and relies upon passwords, activation and Internet Explorer just to do its job. It fails on every level.

Printer manufacturers

A Printer driver is a folder with one .ini file, and a couple of .dlls and thats it.
It is not a 50 MB download. It is not an IE Toolbar, and Side Pane. It is not half-baked photo software. It is not a splash screen when your computer starts. It is not a tray icon.

Yahoo

If Microsoft bought you, your software would actually improve.
The Yahoo Toolbar is like AIDS. You have to be careful what software you download, otherwise youre bound to get it from one of them along the line.

Nokia, and other phone manufacturers
You seem to be under the impression that you are the only piece of software on the computer. Youre happy to rear your ugly face at every boot. You make a simple thing like syncing seem like surgery. Your software is so unwieldy, itd be easier to take up origami.

nVidia and ATI

A graphics card driver drives the screen. It does not include two context menus and a tray icon that handily reminds you that you dont have an SLI configuration every time you boot. Your configuration options shouldnt be so complex that I have to choose between a basic and advanced mode, both of which are as equally useless as each other.

SOURCE

McAfee was terrible. before installing this pig make sure you have at least 30gigs of RAM!

Yahoo Toolbar - any software that comes with yahoo I wont install.

Symantec as in Nortons, I read once that Nortons uploads the odd malware during their updates to your pc so their software will detect it making it look all pro. Paranoid user.

ISP's I do want their email when I sign up. :)

installing a song? :haha:
didn't know that amazon supports his direct competitor. It would be fun however if the user got a message after he puts the song into itunes: "You dumbass, if you bought it from us it would have cost you only half!" :DL

Sailor Steve 07-17-11 04:26 PM

:rotfl2:

As for competitors, I figure that If they give Apple a little money and make their stuff iTunes-friendly it's worth it to them for the money they'll make off the deal.

Dude I have a PC not a Mac. Otherwise I'd have to give up silent hunter.

As to Amazon, well they should make their digital music available in more markets if they want to compete.
