Historically :

Quote:

The Battle of the Mediterranean was the name given to the naval campaign fought in the Mediterranean Sea during World War II, from 10 June 1940-2 May 1945.
For the most part, the campaign was fought between the Italian Royal Navy (Regia Marina), supported by other Axis naval and air forces, and the British Royal Navy, supported by other Allied naval forces, such as Australia, Netherlands, Poland and Greece. U.S. naval and air units joined the Allied side in 1942.

Even thought it sounds more dull than "the Italian Job" ;)

How about "One of our Submarines"? - http://www.amazon.co.uk/One-Submarin.../dp/1844151069

Has a nice ring to it, and still applies if the campaign expands to other theatres.

yes, i like "one of our submarines"

but i also thought "the knights of malta" has a cinematic ring to it

The ones around my head are along this line: Prowling Mare Nostrum or Strangling Mare Nostrum :arrgh!:.

We strive for historical accuracy, right? :D

Then I'm with Keltos and would like to add another vote for: Battle of the Mediterranean

But you guys rule! And rocks!!

In order to solve the lack of Italian escorts, I've added the Turbine Class Destroyers with my meager S3D skills (starting from a V-W Class DD).

Also deleted one stack from the German Torpedoboat to resemble a Spica Class TB, and gave her a more Italian look:

Really looking forward to this, The DD and TB look fantastic, especially the camouflage scheme on the Spica.

Cheers for all the work put into this Japlance

naval porn! (Sorry, stuff for me to sink!)

The bad news is that, after three weeks, I got no reply from Lurker, so that means that I will have to create new layers for Italian and neutral shipping and the docked ships, and remake some of the convoys to North Africa.

A Beta version will have to wait a bit longer.

Well, there's good news again :yeah:.

Kaleun contacted Lurker through another forum, and he gave permission to use his original work in WDAD.

Thanks to both of you :salute:.

I also got a copy of One of our submarines from the mail this morning (and a DRM-free SH3 copy), so I have some reading to do now :ping:.

While I'm right now in the middle of enjoying One of our Submarines, I've found this for possible purchase:

http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/image...500_AA240_.jpg
Submarine Torbay

Since Torbay spent a great part of her career in the Mediterranean, I thought it could be an interesting read. Has anybody here read it?

I've just found out that in www.uboat.net there are patrol reports of UK submarines as well (sadly, the only ones I've found online), so I'm making a few additions to the patrol areas and target selection, as well as some more convoy routes.

I've also found, after adding a number of messages to messages.txt and deleting most of the Pacific ones, that now it doesn't work properly. Probably a format problem. Has anybody more info about this file?.

Then I have a question for keltos01. You did a version of the T-Class with the three rear firing tubes (the Dutch Zwaardvisch), but I think it is not compatible with the 10-forward tubes version. Is it possible to have it reworked so they can both be eligible in the campaign?.

http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...lies/spike.gif what?! where more precisely? I'm going blind here...

Messages.txt I've always found easiest to work with in a spreadsheet, like Excel. Import textfile and once finished, just export as tab-formatted text.

If you want me to look at your messages.txt, please upload somewhere.

Don't know that specific book, but thanks for the heads-up

You may also enjoy "Unbroken" by Mars and "The History of the British U-Class Submarine" by Walters...

You could also try CRASH DIVE in action with H.M.S.SAFARI :D

Try here: http://www.uboat.net/allies/warships...type=Submarine

There are snippets, not close to all of them, but something at least. Some T-Class boats also have a nice Googlemap thing with some of their positions during patrols. Check HMS Torbay, here is where I found the reference to that book.

This is what I did, but then they don't show up ingame. I'll try to upload the file later and send you a PM with the link, thanks for the offer .

I'd have to remap ids and all, it's basically two versions of the same sub.

I'll think about it, but you already have the U and T ...

and the 11th tube causes CTD when using the TBT, never could fathom why because it works in the scope view.

OK, keltos. Thanks for the explanation.

Don't worry about it, it is probably a problem with the game rather than the submarine. I'll leave as it is, with the 10-forward tubes version.

Original documents photographed/scanned and uploaded.

Guess I'll still have to visit the National Archives then... :D

I can't see any errors in your messages.txt?? :hmmm:

Perhaps SH4 simply dislike the use of "MEDFLEET"??

V.100 released

Initial post updated with a download link to v.100.

No idea. I don't understand why it won't work. This is something that worries me a lot, because the state of the war in North Africa dictated where did the convoys go to, and this is a very important info in our context.
