will it work on FOTRS?

SkyBaron 03-29-11 10:35 AM

I don't think TDW plays Sh4 let alone TMO! So I guess there won't be a fix for us TMO players. :06: I think TMO changes DCs and bombs somehow and maybe it's conflicting with this mod.

Can confirm the above for TMO 2.1.

Loads fine in new career and singlemissions, but only until fire is exchanged.

Installed the mod in my game (Sh4 v1.5 + GFO) and it froze up just at the instant my torpedo was about to impact. Replayed the mission 3 times with the same result - CTD just as the torpedo was about to hit.

Hrm. Are any of you running RSRDC? I've tried this in TMO with RSRD, and I haven't had any crashes. (Yet)

No RSRD here... have you been under fire?

Mod loads and runs fine, but as said above, only until someone or something opens fire... :shifty:

I've fired torpedoes and hit targets, which some have reported to be an issue.

The only depth charges I've experienced were in the convoy attack training mission. I haven't managed to be depth charged yet in campaign. I wouldn't think there would be a difference, but there could be.

I found the problem! This mod tries to access two IDs for nodes that aren't present in TMO2. RSRD has a file with those IDs(from a SH3 file it seems) so it works with RSRD.

For people playing TMO2 without RSRD just add this little .dat file to your library folder (or save it in the TheDarkWraith_DC_Water_Disturbance_v2_0_SH4 folder before enabling it) and it should work fine with TMO2! :)

Awesome work!

I am getting an invalid address error when trying to download from Mediafire.

EDIT: Working now...thanks for the file!

willielapus 03-30-11 12:59 PM

SH4 v1.5 + GFO + MOD + UPDATE = OK

:D Thanks - works now with latest update

jldjs 03-30-11 01:04 PM

Can this MOD be installed while out on patrol or should you wait to return to base?

Ok. Thanks. Since I play TMO21 w/o RSRD I hope this release solves the CTD problem.

Jan Kyster 03-31-11 02:27 PM

It does not CTD anymore in TMO! 100% sure! Know after +100 DCs last night... :nope:

Photobucket screwed up and apparently they don't know how to fix it.

Is there an effective range on this? For example if a DD is dropping DC 3000 yards away is the DD that is listening for me directly above deaf?

Yes and no, much depends on mods, weather, crew ratings and what you're doing. DD's can only do one of two things, listen or use sonar, they can't do both, but have several on you, once can listen why others hunt with sonar.

I've set most of my escorts to elite. Very dangerous in a group. Almost always one DD is listening with his bow pointed right at me, when another makes a run, the listening DD will make a run.

The good news for you is the listening DD doesn't have a good fix on you, meaning you're doing something right...deep, silent running, maybe rough water, but probably a lower rated escort, some are quite dumb.

I got caught in calm water, you can see one escort listening pointed right at me, why two escorts make runs. Enemy crew ratings make a big difference on how they attack, higher ratings, vet and elite they can be quite a chore to deal with. Elite escorts seem to work very well in attacking together, why lower rated escorts almost always attack one at a time making passes from the stern.

The mod effect is great.

I gave the mod a go last night but got CTD.

The CTD always happen when I just fired a torpedo which was strange. Happen three times so I un-installed it and SH4 runs alright now.

I had to use the patch file for GFO and TMO, don't know about stock but don't think it would hurt to throw it in an see if it works OK.
