It's just a sore spot when the rich and famous get thing simply because they are rich and famous.

As GR said, maybe she's just such well regarded in her school by her peers that they want her to take on that role.
Perhaps you're stuck in the line of thinking that precludes the idea that being decent people can actually help you get rich and famous...
