@desirableroasted

No hard feelings mate. Sometimes the internets do this to people, myself included :03:

@Jimbuna

I think she may have been of the Captain Class, I was wrong thinking the funnel was swept aft, it was only the 'nub' at the top I guess. I distinctly remember that feature. Regardless of what she was, she kicked hell out of me. I knew I was pushing it at this stage of the war taking on a convoy but I had set up my attack well and lady luck had been on my side all career. What surprised me was the perfect execution of their counter attack; lightning fast with overwhelming firepower coupled with precise accuracy. It was like I had poked 7 sleeping bears with 14 sticks.

Edit: Captain Class armament is rough but not as bad as I originally estimated. Must have been the other escorts dropping cans as well and my mind going to all ahead panic as my boat sprung a billion leaks :yeah: It appears I experienced "the fog of war", er ah, "the haze o' sub-simming"

Captain Class Armament
3 3" guns
9 20mm guns
4 depth charge projectors
2 depth charge tracks
1 hedgehog

I agree, but I'll always check the ID book even if I know what ship it is I still need to know it's specs so I can prepare and place a shot...But in 1943 I think I'll sit on the side lines(mostly due to a new mod I installed).

In addition, Tribals weren't very good ASW vessels, being designed for fleet actions.

The irony, I eat warships for breakfast yet this one always seems to get away(and leaves a nasty surprise behind too!).

Sounds like a hunt class to me. They're armed with depth charge throwers and hedgehogs and are not afraid to let loose if they get a sniff of you. One I can get away from, two is difficult, three and I'm writing my will.....

From what I've seen (in game) the Hunt 1 is more of a pest than a problem, but a Hunt 2 is ok and a Hunt 3 I don't mess with those guys... even if I'm submerged... they can smell fear :o

I don't find Hunts particularly bothersome as a Class, but Hunt III's seem dangerous because they seem to get experienced crews.

IRL, a Hunt I had 40 DCs, and the II and IIIs had 110. All else was the same. So, in the game, any difference between a II and III must be attributed to crew skill and ASW equipment.

Almost no Hunts were sunk by U-boats.
