Brilliant mod, and thanks for the work involved to everyone involved, but i have a problem.

How do i get the gates to open when i am leaving harbour and returning, they don't seem to open for me and i end up hitting them.

Thanks

Dave:cry:

They are on a timer, you have to wait for them to open by themselves.:yep:

Thank you! I've been trying to find my way out of Wilhelmshaven for days! My last attempt ended when I was ready to sail through a gate and it started closing just before I reached it. Those red and green lights should give you a little more warning.

I know, I've been caught in the gates at St. Nazaire before, and there is no getting out of them till your destroyed.

:salute:

Thanks for that

Hi mate,

My pleasure, at least you get to leave port!, I haven't played the game for so long that i've got barnacles in my beard :).

I just bought SH5, another game I'll probably never have the time or inclination to play but I did install it which is more than I dd with SH4, I still have the DVD sealed in the wrapping , it never made it onto my hard drive. I know there are some brilliant mods coming out for SH5 and I'll try and find some time to go through them but my first impressions especially the video quality were'nt that great. I haven't tweaked anything yet and will experiment with other video settings but my first impression was "this looks crap compared to SH3" but, as I say I need time to experiment. I really bought it to look at the models etc.. My trouble is that I get restless and bored very quickly nowdays playing computer games, I used to love 'em years ago and get very immerased in them but I just cannot relax and enjoy them as I used to. I have several newish games which I've only installed and spent a few hours between them playing.

All the best mate,

Aces

Hi mate,

I've been taking a much needed few days break from modding so apologise for the delay in answering posts.

I believe that Magic has kindly contacted Rowi and, when he returns from his holidays, I will liase with him to see what needs doing with the harbor_kit.dat to get things sorted.

Best Regards

@Aces

Hi ol' mate, yep I know where your coming from. I buy most new sims that hit the market, alas they seem to be getting fewer and farther between these days. I spent a bunch of dosh on Steel Beasts Pro PE alone, along with it's 2 payable updates. I doubt I've spent more than a couple of hours game time with it, did the same with F4 Allied Force. Black Shark, SH4 and 5 to name but a few. Seems a bloody aweful shame mate. Next on my list will be DCS A10, but probably won't have the hours to get to grips with it :( . It's a bugger being old and working ;). Your magnificent work sure does help me to while away sometime on my favourite subsim tho skipper.

Now take that well earned brake darnit, and grab a beer with me:()1:

Best regards.

This looks like a wonderful mod and I would seriously like to be able to use it, but I'm getting CTDs whenever I try. I've tried a few times now, with clean installs, driver upgrades, resolution changes, but I never get beyond the loading screen for my (new ) career (and sometimes not that far!). My PC runs GWX just fine and I think I've got the instructions right. The problem is even after I uninstall the mod with JSGME the crashes persist and loading slows down. Any ideas? It could well be something in my setup because your mod isn't the only one of the great new mods that have attracted me back to this sim that sadly I can't run. System specs: Core 2 Duo 3.0 Ghz, 4 Gb RAM, ATi HD 4890 1 Gb, Catalyst 10.8 drivers, Win XP Pro 32 bit.

Aces 09-10-10 02:57 AM

Hi mate,

A quick reply as I'm at work, IMHO the CTDs are being caused by all the big mods using up memory.

Please try Anvart's /3gb patch if you are running windows XP, details and download link in this posting:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...&postcount=230

Please remember to back up your boot.ini before editing and also your sh3.exe files before applying the patch.

Hope this helps,

Best Regards

Many thanks-your help is much appreciated. I have downloaded the utility from the link and am trying to get my head round this. The boot.ini edit is presumably the same one that enables the 3Gb switch? Is there a difference between the results using Anvart's utility and simply enabling the switch in boot.ini (I found a post suggesting this)? A lot has moved on since I last played this sim!

Aces 09-10-10 06:09 AM

Hi mate,

You have to edit the boot.ini as indicated and also run the batch file to patch the sh3.exe to make it "largeaddressaware" then it will use the momory above 3Gb, I am the same as you, I have Windows XP with 4Gb, without using the /3Gb patch I would and did get CTDs with all these mods loaded. Simply editing the boot.ini isn't enough you must patch the sh3.exe as well.

Yes, I agree with Aces ! I have Win XP SP3 32 Bit with 4 GB RAM and without the 4GB Patch AND Editing the Boot.ini File I have no chance, that the Game with all my MODs loaded !

With 4GB Patch AND Boot.ini Editing I have no Problems to load the Game !!!

Magic

I added the patch and edited my boot.ini but with the mod enabled I'm still getting a CTD when I'm about three quarters through the initial loading screen. I remove the mod and SH3 then loads OK. I'm wondering if using the no DVD version of the exe is an issue (I've got a version of the disc with Starforce)? Here's my boot.ini

[boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS=" Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS=" Windows XP Professional w/3GB" /fastdetect /3GB /Userva=2560

Thanks for the advice.

And this is my Boot.ini:

[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Home Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /3GB /USERVA=2990

The red entry is the additional Entry for the 4GB Patch, no more !!!!

Magic

Foxendown 09-11-10 02:38 AM

Amended my boot.ini (thanks Magic1111) and......oh, the frustration, still getting the CTD although loading times are noticeably quicker. SH3 is working fine with GWX but as soon as I enable the three parts of the mod, I'm back to the desktop every time.

Aces 09-11-10 05:11 AM

Hi mate,

Sorry to see that you are still having problems.

Forgive me if I missed it but can you please post your mod install order from JSGME. You can do this by clicking on "Tasks" then on "Export activates mods list to" and then select "Clipboard" and then you can paste them here.

Best Regards

Aces
