I miss vacuum tubes.

Sailor Steve 07-12-10 11:14 PM

I don't. I don't miss 3" speakers with tinny sound, I don't miss vinyl getting scratched all the time and I don't miss warbly tapes either.

This old fart likes CDs, and likes having all his music on a 1 TB hard drive even more.

JScones 07-13-10 02:45 AM

Oh man, Yer Blues. Used to be a core song in my band ~25 years ago. Ordinarily the drummer, I'd come out from behind the skins just to play lead guitar on this track.

@krashkart: disappointed you missed the Beatles reference but impressed you got the tube cut connection.

I have that card - runs great

And I have the ATI 4870 and it works like a charm :D
Maybe your wife will start playing also Barn Buddy on hi5 :))

Small miracles

Oh joy!

My wife once questioned why I always bought a cheap, minimum system and then complained when it was obsolete!

Now I always upgrade to the best available.

Go for it, man!

Yeah, something's wrong here. I knew a guy who's wife wanted him to pull more overtime at work so he could buy his dream car. Then the guy went home early one day feeling sick only to find his old lady shacked up with the UPS guy having kinkier sex than they ever had together! :o

Now this guy's wife wants him to buy another PC for his gaming desires so she can spend more time on Facebook? Hmmm, I'm thinking he better start investigating just who she's so eagerly wanting to talk to on Facebook! :hmmm:

This has got to be a test of some sort! I've been married far too long to know that women DO NOT want their husband's to be happy - EVER! There's some underlining reason why she's being so generous here and it's not because she loves you so much and wants you to spend more time playing video games. Facebook isn't that great either and it's not like she needs to be on there 24/7 anyways...

She must have bought herself something that you don't know about that you'll be paying on the rest of your life or she's planning on divorcing you and needs a new computer for herself. You know the judge will give her the new computer you buy, all the cars you own, and the house right! All you'll get is a big fat monthly bill to pay to for it all!

Best of luck, but I think you're about to learn a very rough lesson about the coldness of women!

It is the only time I have ever banged my head to the Beatles. Alice Cooper?? Oh my...

OTOH my mistake was sweetened with such a warm and healthy sound. Ah, now that is heaven on Earth. :smug:

How many drummers are on Subsim, I wonder? I started in sixth grade... haven't played since my early 20's. Do you still play? :hmmm:

Herr-Berbunch 07-13-10 09:44 AM

Nice one! I recently got a great-ish computer from work, and my wife got so peeved at me playing on it that she made me move the old one to the top of the stairs and set her up a micro office (tiny desk, chair and computer - I've kept the 5.1 surround) so she can get on with studying for her Masters... :yeah:

I say study for her Masters, but everytime I go up she's either "just checking facebook" or "just checking emails" so unless her degree is in social networking or internet communications... :hmmm:

Haven't played for ten years. In my prime during the late 80s / early 90s I was a part-time session drummer, and backed a number of well known Australian singers; pop and jazz (SS, you may see one or two on my FB ;)). Had my own band for a while, then played keyboards in an upcoming Sydney band (recorded at Studios 301), but by 2000 I'd pretty much retired.

Now I arrange and produce my daughter's music - she's a budding songwriter. She's 7, and yes I'm proud. She's been the catalyst for me pursuing a hobby interest in audio mastering.

I was equally lucky; my wife is Polish and spends time on the desktop talking to her friends and family back home, as well as monopolising it for work purposes; I was able to persuade her that what I needed was a high-end laptop to do my stuff on; SH5, Train sim, and a bit of music and video editing......

Voila! Dell Precision 6400, Dual core T9400, Quadro graphics, WuXGA, 8gb ram and 320 of HDD..... ok, no ssd drives but working on that too!
Running on Win7 Ultimate it is amazing!
Still pinching myself to see if I have died and gone to heaven - a beautiful wife in port and a superb laptop, what more could a Kaleun want?

Will-Rommel 07-14-10 12:40 PM

A cold beer? :O:
