To sum up, they cut off everything that the real fans and honest customers of this series learned to love and appreciate over the years, just to serve a new clientele of customers for whom it is questionable whether they have any interest in this game and will buy it.:damn:
They slammed the loyal customers of Silent Hunter in their faces and show them their backs. They lost alot of reputations and only the future will show of if they find a way back to those who support and feed them over the past years. |
Being the last in a series is not that bad if its left in a state the gaming community can work with. I may have misinterpreted things in folks' lists, but it would seem most if not all of the items mentioned could be addressed with mods in time.
For me, the one thing I really don't like is the physical walking required to go to any station on the boat. I don't see that being modded out at all. As to items I have not found mods for yet: deck gun - target waterline, superstructure, weapons... flak gun - fire at will specify range choice torp salvo spread distance selection An item I think would be cool for auto-tdc would be to have the ability to drag one of the 1,2,3 points of your projected torp track and have the corresponding locked targets 1,2,3 move the appropriate distance. Would allow for easier long range shots with auto tdc. I loved SH4 fully modded to the 9's so much and there does seem to be alot that simply cannot be modded into SH5. |
Why couldn't they just get SH3 and update the graphics, would have been far better!!:damn:

I don't disagree with your view either. I expected more from the vanilla product than what has been delivered. Alot more. So far I have only 4 products on my computer that were ok as released, although I still run heavily modded. Oblivion and Fallout 3 from Bethesda and Sins of a Solar Empire and Galciv2 from Stardock. Other titles I run modded are Company of Heroes, Battlefield 2, Mount and Blade, Il2 Sturmovik, HL2, Dungeon Siege 1 &2, NWN1&2...and I could go on. I have begun to question in recent years whether a particular games developers honestly play the game they work on or are gamers at all. And this opinion is primarily aimed at titles solely aimed at PC sales because with console support you can understand some direction of a product. Sh5 at a second glance seems developed with a console mindset when you look at many of the interfaces features. And as such loses what should have been a simulation focus replete with command functionality to manage your crew and feel in command instead of a 1 man Uboat. |
