True. Whether it fades into obscurity or not really depends on the level of detail modders can apply to SH5. If they can manage to surpass previous titles, then yes it'll happen. One thing I'll give SH5 over Falcon 4.0 is that it's playable out of the box. Unfinished it might be, it still doesn't compare to the level some sims in the past suffered on release that modders eventually fixed and overhauled. |

There's only one reason why I don't go back to SH3 (maybe that's why he said ''lifeless''). Maybe someday, SH5 will have real wolfpacks (AI operated boats forming wolfpacks with real interaction with BdU). Now, THAT would be really different and I'm sure this would be an amazing gaming experience. People complained about sooo many things but seem to forget the real issue (at least the real issue for me): WOLFPACKS |

One thing I don't get is the "stuck to the spot" comments. I walk around SH3 all the time.
On the other hand I can't visit the engine room. Yet. On the other other hand I am really excited by SH5's potential, if not its current state. |

I agree , as I've said before I'm enjoying playing the game. There are a few things that need improving but I can still remember vanilla SHIII. |
One of the interesting things with the addition of the Python scripts is that it offers a whole new level of alterations.
Bridge Commander had this ability and they pushed that game so far beyond the limits it was ridiculous. If only 1/4 of what they managed to accomplish with Bridge Commander and Python is possible with SH5, great things are indeed ahead. |

Even with its current faults, SH5 is a very addictive sim. |
Awesome. Hopefully it will end up being the subsim.:sunny:

Use Extended Freecam. You'll be in FPS mode by default, even when on the bridge.

And yes I am aware of it's faults and shortcomings, but they are patchable, and moddable all of them. And in time it's going to overshadow any of the previous titles, of this I am sure. I passed up on SH4 for some reason, I think it was during a time when I had become more involved in my other hobby of R/C flying and it had taken over for a while and am still quite active in that as my fleet of planes has grown considerably, so I had pretty much stopped my PC acivities for a time. Then I saw SH5 coming at us, and dropped my jaw. But I think I may have to get SH4, mainly cause my interest in the US side of things kinda got a boost having watched the bonus DVD that came with SH5 : "Lost and Found, the USS Lagarto" Stories like that really gets me and touches my heart, and stirs my enthusiasim. Not to mention my unwavering respect for all those who served in WWII, on all sides. |
SH5 is the future, but only, I suspect after the final patch has been released and the modding section of the community have had a chance to do what they do best http://www.psionguild.org/forums/ima...ies/pirate.gif

:rotfl2: If it wasn't for the fact that you're supposed to ignore them, this would be my response every time a kiddie wandered into a thread to derail it (like in this one:-?)! So awesome -- not only can you walk around the sub, there are facepalms! Quote:
"You can walk around the entire battlefield and interact with people?! What the hell, this game is going to be horrible, it doesn't even have submarines!" Quote:
