In my opinion it is a legal workaround with reconfig the files.

@Neal: If you agree, I post the link to the pdf.

Greetings,
Paco.

I do have a copy too and it is not illegal or against the EULA to mod your config and script files.
You guys here are doing it for years here at SubSim.
We were not talking there about cracking or hacking the exes or dlls.
I would like to post that modding here with permission of-course. :salute:

Guys I've got the same message 2 hours ago.

Tip : Just DO NOT click "OK" and wait a bit, it let me load my save and play within less than a minute or so.

Give it a try.

Surely all you people cant be part of the "5% club" that are only affected by the connection issues? That is odd... :hmmm:

What is Subsim.com's stance in relation to warez and piracy?
SUBSIM Review has a longstanding policy against software piracy. We do NOT allow discussion or even mention of warez, abandonware, peer-to-peer game swapping, illegal download sites, or rip-off websites. Nothing will get you banned faster than pointing people to illegal software distribution sites. Don't ask for serial numbers, manuals, or cracks. Any admission that you have in your possession illegal software can and usually will result in revocation of your Radio Room forum account. Support computer game programmers buy legally purchasing their work. They have to eat too, you know.
No one cares what you do at home, but don't discuss it here.

same issue; I' very very close to pack this title and ship it back to Amazon; have already shipping/return labels printed out. This masterpiece of DRM works today luckily...but on one more next disconnect I'm going to send it for refund as defective, my patience is near gone..problem is - I sort of like the sim (modded) when it works, but the grief from disconnects is strong..

Apparently Best Buy and Gamestop are accepting returns, no questions asked. If you wait to repurchase until/if the DRM is removed you can probably get the game cheaper as well.

What are you talking about man, what warez , I'm talking about modding config files, why don't you read posts the way they are written.

If you don't care about me and others not being able to play legally purchased game go and find another thread. This one is not for you.

I bought my copy on Sunday. Before opening it, I came into this forum to post that I had caved in and bought it, and am I ever glad I did. I returned it immediately to the store, unopened, and was able to get my money back.

By the way, welcome aboard!

Perhaps Razark is confused.

So what we have here is a bit of information that makes the game playable offline for legal owners, but does not allow pirates to play? Or did I completely miss the point?

:06: If someone can clarify that, I would be grateful.

I just saw that spammy new post and I have no idea what to make of it, so I deleted my original post, cos I thought it was a workaround for a legal version and as I had DRM probs the other day I was interested in it, but what was posted was ... well, I didn't know what to make of it and changing files in such a way that people who didn't buy... what it could do for pirates I have no idea... oh man I'm not even to try and work it out. That's why I deleted my post, but you were too quick :DL.

That new post that's not there any more? I tried to read it, but it seemed a bit ADD. You want me to delete your now missing post I quoted?

Fincuan 03-09-10 05:26 PM

In theory the instructions should apply to both equally, as the root problem is the same: The lack of connection to the OSP server prevents stuff from happening in the game, and with those instructions you can supposedly bypass the limit.

Nah, cos then I'd have to delete the post I quoted in response to you and you me and then you... :haha:. It was the ADD-ness about that post that shall not be named that worried me :DL.

EDIT: I'll just sit on my hands for ten minutes in future before posting anything.

longam 03-09-10 05:37 PM

I only have had one issue on Saturday afternoon, all other times work with no problem. I must be close to one of the AUTH servers, or my cable rocks! :hmmm:

While subsim was down, i found these little gems i wanted to share:

It was frightening and yet somehow awe-inspiring to watch them march off of this conceptual cliff with such steadfast confidence. It's like a menacing and Kafkaesque version of the Emperor's New Clothes where all of the people are screaming, "Dude, you are naked!" to the heedless king. The lemming comparison ceases to be adequate. Lemmings go over cliffs because they are oblivious. Ubisoft went over this cliff because they decided that going over a cliff was a now a core part of their business plan.

I struggled with this comic for a long time. I eventually realized I wouldn't be able to make fun of this in any traditional way because Ubisoft was already a joke.

All taht said, i think ill write my own review of the game. It may surprise you what i think of the game itself.

Hmmmm,

I can't give a guarantee that this works only for legal users. :damn:
But the UBI-servers do not work for legal users too

I see this DRM message alot too. If it pops up, the game won't repeat no matter how long I wait. First two times I hit the OK button resulting in dropping back to the menu screen. On the third time I checked my internet connection that was still good. I don't know if it's a problem with the response time of Ubi's servers that results in annoying DRM screens but each time I see this message I hit ESC and the game continues just normal :o:06:.
I didn't test it with disconnecting my router or something but I noticed after 1h of play that my crappy (Vista-)WLAN dropped at any time during play again and I'm not sure I got the message and hit ESC but the game worked well 'till I decided to end it. I'll test this afternoon if this cute little ESC key works all the way I experienced it so far...

Good post!
And hope that hit ESC instead of OK is the way to go :salute:
