it probably doesnt get saved at all or resets when ET phones home, has anyone checked this with online saves turned off

Sunfighter 03-03-10 11:45 PM

First time post, but Id like to report i have this bug as well. Though on both reloads ive done so far, the morale seemed to rebound back to 100% within the first couple minutes of playing. Mostly it was back to 100% before I was half way though the Kiel canal

That's an interesting point. We still don't really know what happens to our files when we synchronize with the central server,

CCIP 03-03-10 11:50 PM

As I noted in earlier post, that is exactly what I tested today. Doesn't make a difference, sadly.

can you see anything in the save game files to suggest it is saved there as it would have to be for it not to start new each time?

Yeah, as I mentioned on the previous page, I've looked. It's under ActiveUserPlayerUnits.upc in each save folder, if you choose to keep games locally. It does save the morale, but not load it correctly.

Even if I choose to not save my games online through the Ubi launcher, I still get the message that they were synchronized with the server when I start the game. And they still come back if I delete them from the folder manually. Who knows what's going on there?

What a mess :timeout:

CCIP i thought I noticed something about a console being available when the modding functions were enabled? Maybe we can reset the moral from there within the game by typing in a command? Could be worth a shot.

How they hell did they not find this bug and the camera lock out one while testing the game? Einfach wahnsinnig...

USS Albacore 03-04-10 12:13 AM

I just tried every possible configuration of loading, saving, game settings, save settings, new game, not new game etc. Still getting the zero morale issue every time after reloading. :hmmm:

etheberge 03-04-10 12:13 AM

CCIP,

I just saw this setting that Ducimus was musing about related to the moral coefficient. It seems to be in basic.cfg

[CREW_0] ;SEAMAN
MoraleMin=0.30
MoraleMax=0.60
MoraleStep=0.05
FatigueMin=0
FatigueMax=0.5
FatigueStep=0.2
CoefMorale=0.4
CoefFatigue=0.2
QualEffect=1
Hp=10
Wounded=-0.02
Dead=-0.05
SunkShips=0.1
TorpedoHit=0.05
Experience=0

There's a section for every crew member. Could be worth to reset to 0 (or 1? I don't know how that value is used) and test with a new campaign and save game or however you've been testing so far.

ah ok, so its there its just a broken pathway or something that modders can fix :up:

unless UBI fixes it in the next patch, but im not counting on it lol

they tend to overlook the obvious fixes ;)

Ducimus 03-04-10 12:18 AM

basic.cfg is leftover from SH3. It didn't do anything in SH4, id assume the same for SH5.

Basic.cfg though, is probably where i remember seeing moralecoef though. Doh! It seems ive run my games together.

CCIP 03-04-10 12:21 AM

Yeah, I'm pretty certain that basic.cfg does nothing in SH5.

pacificat0r 03-04-10 05:01 AM

Hi guys,

The morale bug should have been fixed after patch 1.0. However if you already saved a game and the morale is now reset to 0, it will not fix this problem unfortunately.
In order to get this fix working you should start a new campaign and all should work well after that.
However i am not sure if the problem is 100% fixed, so if something still goes wrong you should use the Morale mod.

Hope this helps

Bilge_Rat 03-04-10 07:08 AM

just want to make sure we are all talking about the same thing. This is from the 3rd reload and save of the PQ-17 single mission:

I have encountered this Bug too. Problem is, I have no bit of a clue how the raise my crews morale at all. This is particularly stupid considering that the morale seems to deduct over time.

Would be nice if somehow we could kick this whole morale ordeal overboard...:down:

Hi,

Try to talk with your petty officer, sometimes it helps.
And also take a look at the abilities of Olaf your Cook and Bosco ;)

R-T-B has released a little mod which disables the morale part of the game.

Oh, nice! I'll try that :)

It most definitely isn't as far as I can see. Fresh campaign on a fresh patched install and morale is broken right after the first save.

I have seen morale increase with ship sinkings, but once you get zeroed out by the bug you're screwed pretty much.

And it seems to be working like a charm, woohoo! :up:
