I've never had save game problems in either SH3 or SH4 by following three basic rules: Save only when surfaced, never save when within sight of another vessel, and save only from the map screen.

I realize many people like to save just before a torpedo shot, and then reload if the results are not to their satisfaction, but that kind of play never held any appeal for me. Though of course, any game should allow the player to save anywhere and under any circumstances. Be thankful we don't have some craptastic console checkpoint system in place. Yet.

I try to save with those 3 rules in mind but its not always possible- the real world call too often.
Supposdly the game will make a save if you are in the middle of playing the game and it losses the server - what happens if this is right when you have a torp in the water or are close to a ship? I know when I played SH3 or SH4 if I was close to a destroyer and wasn't detected and made a save if I reloaded that save there was a good chance the ship would notice me right away. All that time and effort on making the stealthy approach would be for naught! It would drive me crazy. I hope this is what they mean by fixing the save game.

If the game does Autosave's then they better have fixed the save bugs from previous games!

If the OSP doesn't autosave then do i lose all the progress since i last manualy saved?

Could have been playing for over 2 hrs since last save and connection drops out. If you cant save when not connected does that mean you lose the last 2hrs of progress?

Save early, save often. Good advice for most games, I always thought. Moreso, with games that you have particular concerns about.

I believe it saves to your HD and uploads to their server, rather than saves to the server directly. Can you save if not connected? Good question. We'll know in a few days.

This will happen. 100% guaranteed that it will. Ubisoft will simply say "sorry for the inconvenience."

It can only be LESS stable since it adds another set of complications. A "good save" is meaningless if you cannot use it because someone, someplace kicked out a cable.

Of course, they will be saved at the UBI server and that precious data is worth $$$$ (to them) :O:

Luckily the loading process was overhauled in SH4 :). I guess it just depends on the bandwith Ubi provides for downloading your saves... the system will be used for Assassins Creed 2 and whatnot, so I'm assuming it won't be that slow.
