Be careful if you order a Finnish beer called Lapin Kulta though. It comes from Lapland (or at least used to before they closed the brewery up north). :)

Probably won't have it but Saku, an Estonian beer, is pretty good.

Saku is a bloody brewery, not a beer. They make several different type of beer.

is there a huge difference? of the beers I posted, Bavaria is a brewery , Westmalle is a brewery, Hoegaarden is a brewery and Duvel is a brewery. But if you ask for either of them, noone's gonna ask which of the beers of that particular brewery you want:)
(exept maybe Westmalle, asking for a "Westmalle" can just as well mean you want a "Westmalle Dubbel" as a "Westmalle Tripel")

Id say there is a huge difference, because some of the stuff Saku produces is complete pisswater while other stuff it produces is great. They don't really have a single beer associated with them.

Well they sell Saku Originaal in Finland, and the various other Saku - varieties. Since there often seems to be the word Saku in the beer's name I kind of call them all the Saku-beer. Sorry.

Saku Originaal.

Drink responsibly.

"Healthy beer drinking" and "Drink responsibly"?

Seems like contradictions in terms to me! :DL

Heineken

I'm drinking Heineken as i type, i discovered this beer at new years and its now my favorite choice. Ive seen it on the shelfs for years but never bothered to try it. Glad i did now, damn it has a beautiful taste, like a full beer. Its a lager too and i usually hate the lager taste.

Heineken doesn't enjoy a favourable press here in the UK usually, but I drank it during my 2 year stint in Holland and the difference was truly amazing.

It's like most beers these days (Carlsberg etc) brewed around different countries worldwide, under licence.

I usually drink Foster's in the house (UK) and TarJak finds this highly amusing.

Originaal is the pisswater I mean, the beer has no character and barely any taste, it looks like piss, smells like piss and tastes like piss. And now they have ruined Rock aswell, it used to have a bitter hopps taste to it, but now it is as watered down as originaal used to be which is even more watered down now, they actualy dilute piss, the bastards.

A Finnish beer company Olvi owns a brewery called A. Le Coq in Estonia. They make pretty good beers too although my favourite Olvi-beer is Sandels.

antikristuseke 01-22-10 11:25 AM

some pathetic cock beers are decent, while others suffer from the same problem as Saku beers of having no character. oh i call A le Coq pathetic cock because thats what it sounds like in estonian :)

OneToughHerring 01-22-10 11:29 AM

Well, alcoholic beverages are cheap in Estonia, that's why many Finns ferry over there to buy crates of the stuff and then haul it back to Finland. In the process they might just barely save the price of the trip.
