i think this quarrel between August and OneToughHerring was just a misunderstanding:

A. laughed about OTH because he said "the damage may have been stronger and the damage greater by other factors", thinking OTH meant Clover's climate change, or Pat Robertson's religious reasons :doh:. However what OTH meant with "other reasons" was that this was due to the poor infrastructure, and a lacking plan for events like this.

Or so i think :D

yea you're right, although I think August has also specialised in messing with me. However I do find it somewhat sad that some people would actually think that I would agree with Robertson in pretty much any matter.

Excuse my ignorance but it seems fairly feasible that over the past 20 years or so the temperature of the earth has increased considerably due to global warming, couldn't this heat cause expansion of the earths surface thus causing the plates to shift?:hmmm: Not being an expert in this area but it does seem possible,:oops: obviously does to Danny!:yep:

Considering that the tectonic plates are 15-200 kilometers or 50-250 miles thick on average, and that the majority of their surface area is located deep under the oceans, I seriously doubt a minute change of temperature in the air above would have any effect on them. The molten core below them is the bigger factor.

However, Danny Glover did play the president in that idiotic 2012 movie so maybe that makes him more in the know than the rest of us. :O:
