I laugh at England in 9th position but I seriously question both Argentina and France being ahead of them when recent form shows they both only just scraped into a world cup qualifying position :hmmm:

Remember it is a statistical thing only, calculating past placements and results, no judges' assessment of present team form.

True (aka AMERICAN) football is a true sport - men battling each other all over the place, scrumming and pushing and gouging even when the ball is nowhere nearby. If memory serves me right, you can't even run over someone unless the ball is involved in "soccer". I mean - whats the point of a good scrum if you have to worry where some bloody ball went?

If you want to define a real sport - its where someone can get seriously injured in a legal collision that has nothing to do with where the "scoring" thing is...

Thus - only Hockey, real (aka AMERICAN) Football, and Auto Racing qualify as real sports.

Skybird 01-12-10 08:03 PM

That is more a definition of anarchy, circus or war, than sports. :hmmm:

Maybe egg-carrying would find greater acceptance outside the US if the players would not stand around so much of the time, and play would see more flow and action instead of brakes and interruptions, not to mention commercials. Concerning dynamics and match flow, egg-carrying is just this:

L-A-Z-Y - 'N - L-A-M-E !!!

:woot:

The best of it are the chearleaders, which proves that it is a true girls sports! :yeah:

Personally I hope American Football is never accepted outside the US (and maybe Canada). It is our sport and the last thing I want is a bunch of silly foreigners trying to take it over.

Rugby is ok but they'd be padding up too if they made NFL grade hits and tackles. We tried it without pads and helmets and the body count was just too great for society to accept.

Rugby anyday. Rugby World cup 2011.

Trouble with soccor is to many hollywood injuries where they scream murder after getting hit in the calf muscle where 99.9% of the time the injury that has cause them to roll over the false grass screaming for their mummy NEVER happened, faking injuries for their team is now what that game is all about! I can't stand the game. Only time i seem interested is when its NZ v Aus.

Check the pics. No, these are no fakes. The foul against Lienen (first b/w) I even remember from my schooldays.

Tzzzz... It seems I indeed forgot the link in the posting above. Sorry. "Schalk oder Kalk" - that is the question.

They are just trying to keep up with the drama queen division of the NFL. ;)

Yea because all it takes is a measly Cuba to whoop your butt in another one of your national sports, baseball. :DL

CaptainHaplo 01-13-10 07:40 PM

For once OTH - you and I agree - Cuba could beat the snot out of the US in baseball - oh wait - if all the cubans had to play for cuba - could the US even field a team?

"America's pastime" = watching a bunch of people with hard to pronounce names find ways to waste time on a baseball diamond.....

No wonder its audience - both live and on tv - has dropped steadily over the years.

Not to mention the whole steroid issue....

So true. Cant say I've never been a football fan, but the acting has gone way too far in the past years. Hell, I grade football to the level of show wrestling. :nope:
