When I first saw this thread I thought "Don't people ever read these things?" But you're right - it wasn't stickied, and I do come here every single day and read every single thread, so what was obvious to me might easily have been missed by somebody else.
On the other hand, when something like this happens it's so much fun to join in the finger-jabbing and joking. So, on the one hand I apologize, but on the other I still say :O:! |

this forum is getting ready for the release of the sh5 game in only 12 short weeks and part of that preparation is to get back to the strict decission making about what is worthy of being stickied. all of the stickies were cleared out to eliminate the BS threads and general discussion threads that were very popular along with anything old. we wont be stickying anything anymore just based on its popularity so if it is something new that ubi released about the new sh5 game then it will be stickied for a week and then unstickied to stand on its own popularity. the time for stickying just anything has past and threads will now stay or fade away based on their popularity alone. |
Subsim's policy regarding sticky threads has always puzzled me. Not to have a sticky thread that shows people immediately where to put any new video footage or screenshots for SHV is madness and is just asking for this kind of chaos to repeat itself.
It's really not that big of a deal, but some folks here get so aggitated when a duplicate post is created....and the solution is so simple. Some might say that the solution is to search thoroughly before posting. Personally, I will always scan page one of the Forum before posting something I think is new, but I'm not going further than that. And if that means that something gets posted that is already part of a merged thread with a title that may not even relate to the new subject matter then so be it. Subsim's sticky policy is the real problem here. Common sense tells you that for the three or four months leading up to the release of any new game, a sticky thread dedicated to screenshots and videos is a must. My two cents, Neal. :) |

It looks like SHV will be game for casual players too. I hope diffiliculty and realism level will be adjustable. Those minimaps, HP bars etc don't looks promissing. Can we get TMO or GWX realism level to SHV instead of it? :)

- campaign files, giving convoys more escorts and making them tougher, more air cover - enemy sensors Both SH3 and SH4 lacked a bit of difficulty in the campaigns. Sensors weren't bad though and the game could prove very difficult at times. Even if the SH3 vanilla campaign will be flawless, there's bound to be mods to make it even more realistic. Sensors should be as simple to mod as they are now. The problem is that depending on enemy sensors, your tactics can change dramatically. It's easy to make it completely unforgiving but I'd rather be able to use the real tactics used in the war. I'm hoping for a layered approach to sensors. In SH3 and SH4 the enemy is stuck in a loop waiting for you to pass certain thresholds. I'd like them to use real sensors this time and even spook themselves through false readings. It would be fun to see the escorts suddenly start attacking empty water because they've passed above a wreck or move away from the convoy because of a tired watchman that thinks he spotted a periscope in rough waters. |
Oh please may it be that that you can turn off healthbars:down:. It will resemble Battlestations Pacific. While that was a fun game, there was no realism

You are worrying over nothing mate. There is no question about being able to disable the health bars. |

P.S. As about ships' healthbars, they would be helpful at least for ships' damage system modding/tweaking :D |
A general health bar for the player's boat would be exceptional. As the curent game is I am constantly wondering just how beat up I realy am after some depth charge attacks. I remember one time I lost my #2 torpido tube, both my radar and radar warning antenas damaged my forward bateries and lost one of my AA guns; on top of that I almost lost the ship to crush depth twice due to flooding but managed to pull away from the fight. Thinking I was badly damaged and one depth charge away from cracking a hole in the boat I headed for home with torpidos still on board and ample fule. Turns out I only took a 2% hit to hull integraty.
If I had known that I would have kept going and a health bar I could have told me that. Pluss the captin and crew would know exactly what the health bar would tell the player so there is no realisum conflict. Nice vidio by the way, if only I spoke some German though. I kind of want to know what they were going on about. |
