It required a removal of local content, then manually removing all other remaining remanants of the game and a re-install.
Its working now. |

I bought this about a month ago when it was on sale on steam. I love the game, but I suck at it. Within a year my country crumbles. :haha:
The main problem I have is setting up the infrastructure takes too long in my opinion. Anyone have advice? |
My advice is to build 3 or even 4 Construction Offices; having dozens of builders will ensure all further projects get built in a decent time.
On the other hand, if you do this you must use your building prowess to generate a source of income fast, as paying all those builders will be quite a drain on your budget. Later on, when all the basics are up and running and you are turning a steady profit you can begin tearing these Construction Offices down to a single one if you need the space for something else or if you think they are ugly or if you want to boost your profits further by moving those builders to lucrative jobs. |
Also check out the layer thingy that shows where resources are high, and build different types of farms, etc.
|
2 or so farms for food, and 2 or more cash-crops. Surplus food can be sold, and the cash-crops harvest goes directly to export. Good basis to start from before you move into more substantial industry.
Also, it takes a while for crops to grow; farms aren't profitable the first year. Keep money in reserve to get through the first 1-2 years (~5000-10000). I think your just spending too much. :hmmm: |
I'll try the tips.
I really want the expansion just so I can have gravel roads. :haha: |
So I've given up on Tropico 3 until the expansion pack. Mainly because I want Gravel roads. :haha:
|
So doods! Tropico 3 Steam Ed is on sale for only $7.50 right now... I'm gonna check it out. Just thought I'd let everyone know.
|
Expansion "Absolute Power" available for purchase. :yeah:
|

Is there a good way of keeping both US and USSR happy, or should I just chum up with one side and take my chance? |
Keep them both happy, or get an alliance with 1. They'll invade if they're not happy with you. ;)
Make sure you have good housing and happy people for Soviets, capitalista are trickier, but ussually helps to build... that diplomatic building. :hmmm: |
Went 100% with Russia, US wasn't best pleased but didnt invade. Just started 2nd island - one were you have to export 5000 lots of Iron ore, and this time gone for a presidente backed by the CIA - should be interesting...
