Just outside Bergen at a place called Fedje the U-boat was sunk by a British submarine. Today it rests below the surface at a depth of 250 meters. The inhabitants of Fedje want the submarine raised because the floating mercury is leaking from the wreck.

They plan to raise the sub next year and I'm really looking forward to post some pictures here on this forum:up:. That's about all I know. :smug:

And by the way, the submarine is the only one in WWII to be sunk by another submarine while both were underwater. The British really had one lucky shot

I'm thinking they are going to make a *FORTUNE* off of that floating mercury, which is exceedingly rare...

That reminds me, I should send my wife some flowers...

Seriously, though, I like the boats in the following order:

VII
II
XXI
IX

Just never got into the IX. I have yet to try a XXIII. I hope they are native to SHV though, they seem like they would be *FUN*.

Mlody 08-20-09 03:53 PM

my fav is VIIB slightly faster than VIIC, and that net cutting stuff on the bow... i wonder if you can make a hole in the anti-sub net with it????

Last time I collided with an anti-submarine net it was like colliding with a stone wall... :wah:

Just moved up from a VII to a IXC. What a pig.:nope:

Takes forever to dive or surface. Have to blow ballast 2 or 3 times just to get to peri depth from 75 mtrs useing ahead full too. btw the diving time in F1 isn't even close. :haha:

A balloon could sink faster.

Will gladly lose the renoun to get Good Ole VII back. :woot:

The IXB or C is only good in long range patrols for obvious reasons. :know:

The VII is the best in town boat. :yep:

Hartmann 08-21-09 10:55 PM

IX-B

Good load of torpedos, speed, AA weapons, and range. :yeah:

Gunnodayak 08-22-09 10:38 AM

Definitely type IX D2, I take endurance over mobility.

Red Heat 08-22-09 11:36 AM

Well for me and my crew and my kind of missions...its the VII B, for me its the best of the best! :salute:

Kaleun 08-22-09 01:07 PM

ViiD minelayer - only available as a mod, but in RL it has extra fuel due to it's extra length and could roam across the pond near the US and lay mine but still maintain the full torp loadout/firepower of Vii and apparantly the extra length allowed for extra ammenties ie refridgerated food storage.

IXD2 of course! She can take you to the other side of the world becouse of her large fuel tanks!

XXI is lamest, becouse she has no deck gun or ass tube.

My favorite submarine is the Typ VIIC Klasse, may not be the best but it is for me. I usually patrol the grids of AM and AN as well.

VIIC is rated number 1 on top 10 submarines on discovery channel :DL

But I don't really know the difference between VIIB and C... If B is so much better than C, why make C?

The Type C was open to more improvements such as range and armaments etc.

SeaWolf U-57 08-23-09 03:13 PM

Mine is the GWX version VIIC/42 battle sub
it just looks so cool :salute:

Kapitan Soniboy 08-23-09 04:52 PM

Fun to see what people like. Keep it up! :)

But I can't find the entire video =/

IXB is my addiction. I like to hunt convoys around BC43 (West of Canada).
Shadowing and sending contact reports so all the VIIB and VIIC drivers know what's coming their way, and when to expect it. I have to travel in the same direction, and at about the same speed, as the convoys anyway, so why not help my mates out with some intel?

My second choice is the VIIB. For that, AM53 is the place to be. Well at least until the RAF wakes up. Then AM19 (Rockall Bank) suits me just fine.

Third choice is the IXC. By this time I'm usualy just trying to follow orders, do my grid, and survive.

Rafael 09-23-09 05:29 PM

I prefer the VIIC. :yep:

Alternatively would a VIIB OK too.

My third sub would be the IXB for longer distances.
