Just curious, Tomi, if you will be taking part at the subsim meet in September? On the 16th of September, there will be made a one day trip to Laboe, so it will be possible to make some photos there too, I guess.
I still presume, I'll make it, and then I will make sure to bring my camera and make some photos from bow to stern, inside and outside. I mention it, just in case you would be interested... :03:

I'm better with hydraulic drives
(I rebuild all our Construction equipment)
but,
the part you point to seems to be the Armature.
Which spins.
The parts with wires attached would be the brushes.
Which provide the power the Armature uses to spin.

But the size of the unit appears to small to be the main electric motor?
Not haveing good info that's just a thought on my part.

Yes Carotio if all goes well we can drink a beer together! .:03:

...

Damn that looks as if it would rotate!.
And that would be an asset when one looks to the electric motor to rotate its axis.

It does rotate, exactly as privateer described. Very nice work from today also! It's always amazing to see what you can do.

It is a small boat, and that is just the Starboard side, not a "main motor".

Considering what Tomi gives us with his skills (or is going to give us.. someday :O:) maybe a couple people should get him a copy of this DVD I was looking at for his work on the VII..

Some features that would pertain to his endeavor:

Quote:

View over 600 color photographs detailing every nook and cranny of U-995. Photos are narrated and compiled by sections within the U-boat leading you on a virtual tour of the inside.

Examine large, high resolution photographs. These 3072 x 2048 pixel images are taken directly from a Canon EOS Digital SLR camera. This ensures the photos are of super-high quality. They can be enlarged without losing picture quality. Perfect for viewing minute technical details.

Experience videos shot inside the U-boat providing a virtual walk around tour - section by section. Included are video of the Control Room, Sound Room, G7a torpedo, and all sections within the U-boat. Absolutely nothing has been left out in over 10 minutes of total footage!

Inspect Schematic Plans illustrating an accurately scaled top and side drawing of the U-boat. Plans are big and crisp, at 3000 pixels wide, suitable for modelers and graphic artists.

Step inside the U-boat with the Virtual Guided Tour as it guides you through every compartment in the U-boat. Imagine Oberleutnant zur See (First Lieutenant) Hans-Georg Hess proudly showing you around his boat! In English, he guides you through section by section, demystifying all the dials, hatches, hand-wheels, and equipment
.
It only costs $27.99.. what do you guys think?

I just ordered a copy of the DVD. If noone else or Tomi himself ordered one for this project, then I will give a copy to Tomi if desired...:arrgh!:

Excellent work once again Tomi! Your talents are truly astounding. I'm praying sometime in the future a Fairbanks/Morse is on the drawing board. Good luck with your project!

That would be very generous of you, alot of stuff that would probably be helpful to him in there. Also being in Germany it should be easier for you to get him a copy. :D

Schultz 07-21-09 01:45 PM

On 12 of august I am going on a excursion with my father and I will be passing Munchen too, maybe we can met Tomi in person and bring my gratitude for your work
