Glad you mentioned Wallpaper master, I was using a different switcher (Adolix), but I like Wallpaper master better.:yeah: Only thing I'd like to see added is the ability to save "playlists".

That reminds me, I've always wanted to take a screenshot of my sons desktop with the shortcuts scattered all over, remove all the shortcuts and use the screenshot as the desktop. I'd love to see him clicking all over and nothing happening.

I humbly admit defeat:D Can't get any cleaner than yours unless you took the wallpaper off, too:haha:

Edit due to others typing faster than me :wah::

HOLY MOLY !!! :har:

NeonSamurai 04-13-09 11:25 AM

Hmmm weird my photo disappeared. Fixed for now hopefully, if not ill change hosts.

I use to have more shortcuts but I got rid of a lot of them in the cleanup job in preparation to move over, same for patches, archives, text documents, etc.
I'm also going to have to update the desktop copy I made as i had planned to fully transition back almost 2 months ago, but with the university semester from hell (2 month bus strike, and other problems put me seriously behind in class) and me not being a young 20 something (try 30 something) I didn't have time to beyond doing the first backup.

Anyhow my normal desktop is like i said usually to the last row, and that's at 1600x1050 which gives me a ton of desktop space to fill. The odd thing though is i usually can find stuff pretty easily on it. Unless windows ticks me off and surprise rearranges everything. Maybe some day ill transition to something a bit easier to manage, but I'm not in any rush.

As for the prank, ya that would work though you would have to edit it slightly, and make sure its a maximum resolution shot (bmp) or they will notice. Just dump everything into a folder and tuck it away someplace.

As long as windows doesn't <censored> with the position of everything on a reboot (it likes to do that some times) I have no trouble. Anything I use every few weeks I can find instantly, otherwise it will take me a few seconds to skim the icons. I also usually group similar stuff together like game shortcuts and the like. It also gets cluttered with stuff like patches and installers that I haven't bothered storing yet elsewhere.

Btw for those of you using fancy smancy desktops, you may want to mention what software or whatever your using to achieve it. I'm sure some people would love to know.

You could use a handy little app I found and use - Fences

Heh cute but nah for me anyhow, I've had cluttered desktops since windows 3.11.. It would be weird not having it any more.

But maybe someone else will take a shine to it :DL

Nice find, longam, I guess I should take a look at Stardock's site more often. I use quite a few of their apps, but didn't know about that one.

longam 04-13-09 06:35 PM

Its Free too... and not easy to find on the site.

Reece 04-13-09 08:04 PM

Why not just do what I do and create some folders on the desktop called for example Utilities & drag all icons of that type there, you can then change the folders icon, as in my desktop to something nice!:yep:
