I'm sorry...? Have I messed up some language thing? Sometimes. I'm not sure I understand what you mean here.

Though I do have a question. I am assuming en-passant is allowed?
Of course, in chess that rule is mandatory, always.

I get a thread launched.

CaptainHaplo 03-08-09 01:24 PM

I am sure the language is fine - it just sounded like your probably spanking everyone you play.:yeah:

Meaning I may show decently - or may get skunked. :har:

Either way it will be fun.

:haha: English is my first language and even I don't know what the hell he's saying.

Oh, I see, and now looking at my words again I must admit that you may be right - I sounded haughty. It was not my intention, but was carelessness on my side. I apologise. It's true that I won all my matches so far, but there are 30.000 members at subsim, and I am sure many of them play chess, and of these without doubt some play it better than I ever did. It's just that they do not show up in the GT forum so far.

And as I said, this setting of correspondence chess just meets my "needs". Playing live at the table sees my playing much weaker, and being vulnerable to miscalculations. In that I am really more an analyst than a player. Correspondence chess I have played since my school days. But my club and table-tournament days are over since more than 20 years. I do not like club routine.

Its all good brother, don't sweat it. This means of communication doesn't convey tone very well - as I have had the misfortune to be misunderstood more than once myself.:salute:

I am the opposite - I can play using 2d (like a pc program) but right now I have a small set up beside me as I type playing - I do much better having a physical board. If I didn't have a real board, my play would suffer dramatically. Each to their own.:yeah:

UnderseaLcpl 03-14-09 06:58 PM

I'm back from my match with Skybird in which I shocked him at turn 20 by employing the "French Defense". http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=149098

Anybody interested in a match?

fatty 03-14-09 07:33 PM

I will give you a go Lance, we are roughly equal in skill I think. Go ahead and start a thread.

Skybird 03-14-09 07:58 PM

I think it was Porphy using the diagrams from Winboard, so I will provide you with occasional diagrams this time.

CaptainHaplo 03-14-09 09:44 PM

Well, after taking my lumps against skybird - anyone else want a go?

UnderseaLcpl 03-15-09 08:23 AM

I'll play you if you'd like, CH. Just start the thread if you're interested.

CaptainHaplo 03-15-09 09:57 AM

Thread started :yeah:

fatty 03-22-09 10:17 PM

So who's next? :arrgh!:

UnderseaLcpl 03-22-09 11:52 PM

I want to see fatty v. skybird:woot:

"I'm down"? What does that phrase mean? You're dead? You have no money left? You have depressions? You lost contact with your plane at higher altitude?

A Very Super Market 03-26-09 06:55 PM

It uh... means that he is okay with playing.

fatty 03-26-09 07:36 PM

:rotfl:

Skybird, it is time to introduce you to a website that will have all the words not in your English-German dictionary:

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=down

Skybird 03-27-09 05:29 PM

:)

Okay.
