how closes do you need to get to get damaged by a exploding ship?:06:

What counts is how large the exploding ship is. If it's a cargo carrying ammo, 500 meters can be/are deadly. If it's a destroyer, 20 meters (in stock-game, with GWX i've never got that close). Except for ammo-cargo, the arming range of a torpedo is save. So, when you're gunning, keep this distance (350 - 400 meters).

Not sure, but I was killed once by an exploding ship while playing the Artillery Academy Tutorial.
