Just curious what year are you in? Im in Feb 1940 and had a bitch of a time evading 3 DD's in 130m of water.... took me like 6 game hours to finally shake them. THey got close a few times ....with 2 active pinging and the other listening (GOD I LOVE GWX AI!!!)...

I am in Feb 1940 in a VIIB, attacked a convoy east of Hartlepool in north east England, sunk 3 merchants and was found by one warship, then another.
Both depth charged me for a long period, and I had a maximum depth available of 80 metres.
Stayed at around 75 metres, and went to silent speed with silent running ordered, but they still tracked me well for most of the time, with me moving to full ahead each time depth charges were dropped to avoid them, and then returning to silent again, and so on.
I was not able to shake them properly, and was aware that two of the large merchants that were sinking, we in fact still afloat sinking very slowly, so I headed for them, and went beneath at silent speed, where I managed to lose the destroyers.
One then left to catch the rest of the convoy which wa snow out of sight, and the other stayed, made a few runs, but seemed to have run out of fire crackers, and left, leaving me to surfce and carry on the hunt!
Good luck next time. :arrgh!:
