Jaxa make a screenshot of your ocean and post it here :)

onelifecrisis 12-30-08 12:50 PM

No need. KL just emailed me the GWX3 env files, and I did indeed make a mistake on the flat sun fix. A new one will be uploaded shortly.

strange, haven't noticed it :\ Will have another look now.

onelifecrisis 12-30-08 12:57 PM

FIXED VERSION POSTED. See post 1 for link.

I was right, now it looks perfect, exactly as should be and I wanted
Many thanks OLC :D

Ok I did some testings in naval academy (convoy attack map) and found out the difference between old and new sun fix what is related to the ocean color..

In the first picture there is a view 90 degrees angle straight at the water with the old fix:

http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/115/oldfixoi0.th.png

In the second there's a new fix with the same view point:

http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/9...dnewuf7.th.png

So ocean color in old fix was brighter when you look at it to horizon and darker when you look straight down to it.
And in the new fix is just the reverse effect (looking at the horizon ocean looks darker, straigh down brighter.)
Is it possible to make the ocean look darker the same way everywhere as it is in thenew fix ?

Disable my flat sun fix and you'll see the exact same thing in the GWX3 16km Atmosphere as you see in the (new) flat sun fix. I am aware of the problem but you'll never see it from anywhere except the external camera (which realism players don't use). When I mentioned the problem to KL before release he said he found it preferable to the polygon problem and decided to go with that version of the environment for release.

If you make the water dark when looking down you basically have OLCE2 i.e. you re-introduce the polygon problem.

Ah, roger that!

hi olc,

i discovered the same as "Dani" did with the gwx3-16km-atmosphere. you obviously did not read his post, so i try it here:

at very dark nights the hands of the bridge crew are too bright and the faces are too dark. for comparison i installed your olce v2.4.3 and it looks better.

is there a chance for a fix? only for fun i tried "adjusted crew skin" fix of olce 243 on top of gwx3-16km and it looks better......

thanks and happy new year to all people here!

Er, you just answered your own question. Sounds like the GWX guys decided not to include the adjusted crew skins from OLCE2. So, just add them yourself.

Bosje 12-31-08 11:00 AM

right so the sun looks fine from the bridge but through the binoculars and periscopes it's flat again. also, through the observation scope it's really tiny

this is, i guess, an effect of different zoom values for the periscope and for optimum effect i should get the full OLC package? or have i simply got a graphics card/driver issue?

cheers

I'll do so. my intention was to ask for an "official" fix from you.

If I released one it would be an exact copy of the adjusted crew skins modlet from OLCE2. :yep:

Same here, still searching for the right solution. (Was it like this in gwx2.1? Got to check..)
Haven't tried this flat sun fix yet, not sure its related to what we are experiencing..

I think on optics it has to be so

prowler3 01-06-09 09:05 PM

OK...I gotta ask...what is a "flat sun"? And, if needed, there is no link in the "first post"? :rotfl:

Freiwillige 01-07-09 03:25 AM

Im guessing a flat sun is a Yellow dull colored 2 dimensional disk with no brightness or glare to it. In game it actually looks like this:cry: without the face in the middle.

I have that kind of sun and it only glares brightly when it is on the horizon.

Does this fix make it glare all day!?:sunny:

Yep, the flat sun looks just like you described it. This fix brings back the glare effect and the sun realy shines all day. Only on sunset or sunrise it has no glares as it is in RL :)

Dronston 01-10-09 04:52 AM

Hi,

I'd like to use tis fix but I have trouble finding the download link in the first post. I can also not find the fix on your site (by clicking your signature).

Sorry if I'm overlooking the obvious....
