And so simple too, just 1 file.

I can go from alpha to release in 1 hour. :rotfl:

I'm saving the sliding stuff and changing filters till tomorrow, see if I can join forces with someone and perhaps take this to a new level. But I'm afraid a release would take a little longer then. It's 2am 'round these parts, heading for my bunk.

Thanks for the support guys.

Aniuk, extend my thanks to Ducimus if you get a chance. ;)

Hylander_1314 11-25-08 09:42 PM

Can we get one in polarized sunglass style? :D

Task Force 11-25-08 10:14 PM

That would be cool, change the Postprocessing effects to a sunglass effect.:p So you could turn it on and off.:yep:

Arclight 11-26-08 12:00 PM

Sure, I'll just go change the PP-filter, no sweat. Should only take me like, what, 5 years?

And I doubt adding a polarizing effect through a texture is possible. :hmm:

But great idea though. The periscopes did in fact have polaroid filters. But I think it would require either making the PP-filter dependent on the selected camera, so you only get the effect when looking through the scopes, or making a new filter that only affects the scope view... Hmm, ain't gonna happen. Not by my hands anyway. :nope:

How about I just send you guys some tape, and you tape your sunglasses to the top of your scopes? :ping:

Super! I just downloaded the TMO version. Will let you know what I think. Thanks.

One question. I get a warning from JSGME that a mod I'm using has already changed the file that the color filtwer Mod wants to change. The mod is SCAF (Ship centered accuracy fix). I stopped adding the mod for now. Any idea if they are compatiable? Thanks

What's the effect of a polarising filter? Less glare from the sea? Is that a problem in the game?

Arclight 11-26-08 03:15 PM

Yes, that's what it does, but I don't really experience any hindrance from glare or reflections. Would be a nice effect (visually and because the scopes indeed have such filters), but not neccesary.

Which file is causing the conflict? Menu_1024_768.ini or the .dds (or both)?

Is it for version game 1.4 or 1.5?

Any other mods to note (TMO, RFB, RSRDC)?

Maxoptics2/3 enabled?

A shot showing JSGME with the mods you're using would be helpful. ;)

Arclight 11-26-08 05:02 PM

Nevermind, SCAF edition is up. Link is in the first post with the others.

Seems like SCAF uses the same scope as TMO. This version should work with SCAF 1.5. I also downloaded SCAF for 1.4, expect filters for that soon.

*edit: added editions for older SCAF, TMO and RFB still based on version 1.4 of the game as well.

Could someone send me the Menu_1024_768.ini and possibly the Periscope_Mask_1024.dds from the 1.4 game? I'd like to release this for stock 1.4.

banjo 11-26-08 10:25 PM

Tired the yellow filter in TMO. Way cool--really adds to the realism. Will try green next.

Torps 11-28-08 09:41 AM

Sweet

Very nice mod Arclight.

Arclight 11-29-08 05:16 AM

Thanks for the compliments. :)

I'll be offline for anything from 2 to 6 weeks starting next week. Moving to a new adress and I'll have to wait a bit before I get internet there. I'll be using that time to try and get movable filters in the periscope view, I already got 1 to display but it's not movable yet. No promises as I'm not really experienced in this stuff, but I'm sure gonna try. ;)

Credit goes to Hitman for the idea and getting me started.

Arclight 02-13-09 01:16 AM

AH, good to be back. What the heck happened to the smiley thingies?! :hmmm:

I wish I could say I made some progress on getting things moving, but no such luck. Just can't figure out how to read the menu .ini. Gonna open a thread to ask for some help, so all is not lost.

Any feedback on this thing? Is anyone actually still using/interrested in it?

Ow cool, finally got a salute. :salute:

ancient46 02-13-09 01:57 AM

I am using the yellow filter for night right now and have tried the green and red. I think the yellow works best for night, but green is pretty good at showing flags. I thank you for making this mod, it helps the night attacks a lot.

virtualpender 02-13-09 06:23 PM

Arclight - we're all still here and would definitely welcome the ability to rotate different colors in and out of the night scope. Thanks for what you've done so far and we look forward to any future additions.

Welcome back!

Arclight 02-14-09 02:09 AM

Thank you for the kind words and the welcome back. :salute:

Getting things moving might take a while though. Results so far:
1. getting the filter to display as a separate object and where I want it. Improvement, but not quite there yet.
2. latest test version resulted in CTD.

Thing is, I don't know wether I'm moving forwards or backwards. :hmmm:

Stealhead 02-21-09 10:13 PM

This is a nice mod great work man!

Arclight 02-26-09 05:59 PM

Thank you. :salute:

Gunfighter brought it to my attention that the mod ***** up the German obs. scope. I have fixed it for stock v1.5 and the download link in the first post now points to the new version. I'll check for similar issues with the other editions and fix those as needed.

I'll update this post to inform on further development.

*update; RFB and SCAF for stock v1.5 seems good, TMO gives CTD for German career (even without the mod). Considering the German campaign is "removed" from the main menu in TMO I'm guessing this is "normal" behaviour.

Again, this mod is easily adapted to other mods (for example, the SCAF editions for combining with TMO/RSRDC). If it doesn't work with your particular setup, gimme a shout and I'll see what can be done. ;)

Installed update all OK now. This is what happened with old Filter

Arclight 02-27-09 02:44 PM

Yeah, I got a message informing me of a missing file when starting German career. Because I separated the file for the attack scope from the observation scope (so each can be unique), the same thing happened for the German scopes. But the mod did not include a file for the German obs. scope...

Now it does, and all is good. I'm trying to figure out if the German scopes had such filters as well. From what I've been reading, they're basically part of a periscope "by default". It seems that the German ones had a bright orange and a deep neutral one (is neutral a color? :-? ). I think I'll create new versions to include a bright orange obs. scope for the U-boats this weekend.
