Just 42 years ago, a black man could not drink out of the same fountain as a white man.

Now, a black man has been made president. Some said it could never be done, but now, now they've been proven wrong.

Uh, he's only half-black. Why do people keep forgetting his mother, who raised him, was white?

Ah, he's a tanned German. :sunny:

A German TV comedian, Harald Schmidt:

"Now they talk of that the race barrier has fallen in America. But I don't get it. I mean it is like this: George Bush, a white, has left chaos behind, and now comes a black man and must do the clean-up."

And the same guy:

"It may be that Obama has great ideas about Iraq. But from that Sadadam Hussein won't become alive again either."

Now if we could only elect a government that would get their heads out of their a55es and do what's right for the country instead of themselves:damn:

Hey this is somewhat off topic and pre constitution...but weren't 1st slaves in America white? And sold in Jamestown? Can anyone confirm this? Besides long since deceased slave traders..

Can't vouch for the right or left leaning tendency of the reference, but

"There were hundreds of thousands of Scots sold into slavery during Colonial America. White slavery to the American Colonies occurred as early as 1630 in Scotland."

"A new study suggests that a million or more European Christians were enslaved by Muslims in North Africa between 1530 and 1780 – a far greater number than had ever been estimated before."

Whoa.. I had no idea. :o

In Africa Obama is considered white. Also, let's not forget that many African slaves were sold by African warlords to the slavers. Africa is still tearing itself apart in similar fashion, and I would expect a defeated tribe, or whatever political distinction you want, would still be sold instead of slaughtered if there were buyers.

I am constantly reminded by how much gangland attitudes resemble the genocide wars plaguing the area.

Humanity has so far to go I doubt we will get there. These things must be hardwired survival responses we have yet to control.
