lol...

I was the HPAC tech on my boat. On a 688, us aft MM's 'owned' them and I was the lucky(??) one to get to go to the HPAC school and tend and care for those things.

Ours as memory serves me were Ingersoll rands. is that what you guys had on the 688 boats?

Oh I feel so ashamed... I can still draw the basic layout from memory. I can tell you all about the dang blasted oilers on the front of it. Heck, I still remember the blowoff pressures of the relief valves (strange how you can remember this kind of B.S. YEARS later), but can I remember what name was cast into the side?? Nope..

But for some reason.. I do believe they were Worthington compressors

That is probably right. The name is familiar to me but was not the machinery type. I remember very well the diesel was a Fairbanks-Morse 8-1/8th.

My family was more important than the navy basically. I missed my wife and kids and it was silly for them to move to CT. So I got out and moved to IL. Its nice to be back around the forums though. I been very busy as of late.

Married guys seemed to like boomer duty, I guess they had a regular schedule with two crews. I forget if you said you were on the Dallas. Ever know a fellow by the name of Carcioppolo? I think he may have retired before you were there.

I grew up in the Central Illinois area of Bloomington/Normal and Peoria. Nice to see a fellow Central Illinoisian! Were you able to square away a job after getting out? I'd imagine that the State of Illinois would love to have your skills!
