I reckon so

1942????

I normally die of stupidity a lot earlier than that! Like 9th August, 1939, returning from my pre-war 'shake-down' cruise and being lost in a collision with 'something' in the Straits of Dover!

Oh! The shame of it all....:rotfl:

when dd's are shelling with everything they've got....give me a type VII any time.

and whats the point of a IX running with decks awash and losing the range that you upgraded for in the first place???

I guess it depends on your definition of exaggeration. IIRC you're looking at 32 seconds versus 27. That's not an earth-shattering difference. And if you want fast diving time, a Type XI will travel the same distance as a VII, with decks away, and dive at 15 seconds. That is a MUCH bigger difference than a standard VII-IX comparison. So if diving time is your key requirement, a Type IX still wins out.

But hey, you've got a few hours under your belt and I'm sure you know what works best for you. Right now, as much as I miss my IXB, I'm sure enjoying my new XXI! :D

-We shall engage these british escorts!
-erm sir we will have turned around some time next monday, could i persuade you to go deep and silent?
-it matters not! i said we shall engage and engage we shall! what? why is all that water rushing into the boat?

...which, OTOH, can happen in a VII too I've noticed

No, I'm not dead yet. Just noticing the increased vigilance of the RAF (or maybe the Royal Navy Air Corps?) because of them buggers almost sinking us immediately after leaving Thalia... and it's only autumn '41 we're talking about :o

No matter however. We, being the nonchalant gentlemen that we are, just slipped-and-slided away to a friendly-ish port nearby, followed with us hoping for the boat to be fixed soon(ish)... well, at least as soon as we'd finished with our decadent port-side distractions already, of course

Funny thing, this Kaleuning business. You'd almost think the Tommies really want to sink yer a**, eh?!

:hmm:
