Hey jim,hows it going.

Nope,I dont think I need any files just yet,as I have just started a fresh career earlier using Commander, with all major realism settings enabled, and to be honest I seem fairly content at the moment.
You did mean the GWX files etc?.Honestly, the more I think about it,I dont know mate, what do you think I should do?.As I say I have just left port about 1hr ago and dont wanna have to go back again :nope:
A few new mods would be nice I suppose,to compliment the few I already use, like improved flags, emblems, improved smoke etc.

I'll leave it up to you mate,I still have a lot more to learn when it comes to enhancing the stock game.

Let me just clarify one little thing here, the GWX and all the others (there seems so many out there) they can all be installed over the Commander 3.1 add-on?.It is precisely this aspect of the modding process that confuses me the most.

As always,I thoroughly thank all the help I am getting here ;)

No prob Paul...drop me a line anytime.

Sh3 Commander is a standalone programme/separate installation and does not interfere with your game/mod.

I was just joking

:D Hi everyone
I was just joking don't take it personally:oops:
I didn't know there were people with dial ups and low budgets:-?
Come on guys I just love the GWX I can't help it:smug:
And I was only trying to help with advice etc:yep:
So beare with me , I ' m just a Norwegian and we don't have dials up here sorry:damn: :damn: By the way,,,what is dial up ,I never heard of it before:hmm:

Paul Riley 08-20-08 06:18 PM

Everything is ok now,it was a simple misunderstanding, easily done.Lets get off this now.

Starlion, dial up is ancient. It was the original way to connect to the internet in the early days. You use an internal modem, which then dials a number given to you by your ISP,and then you connect. The speeds are very poor compared to digital subscriber lines these days, like Broadband,DSL etc.
To give you an idea of how bad it is,the other day I downloaded Commander, which is about 25-30MB?,that took about 1.5hrs to dl,whereas if you have a high speed connection that would have took about 5mins,or even less.

:nope:

I consider myself as having a good system, which I built myself I might add,but with a serious bottleneck, the V92 modem, which at best manages about 48-56kbps (kilobytes per second),not even a fraction of a megabyte as you can see.

And dont apologize for being Norwegian man,I quite like Scandinavians, especially the Vikings and Valkyries! :arrgh!:
HAIL THOR!

Can't blame a guy for being a fan. Well, I can, but since you feel so strongly about it...I'm a GWX user too, I just realize there are a lot of other cool mods too.

No 'just' about it. I'm currently reading an English translation of the Vinland Sagas - the original stories of Erik the Red and his son Leif Ericsson, and how they colonized Greenland and discovered America 500 years before Columbus. You guys are hardcore!

Paul Riley 08-20-08 06:47 PM

Would that be by the author Snorri Sturlussen? (correct spelling as needed).I have a few books on Norse mythology and the Sagas myself, great stuff. :arrgh!:

StarLion45 08-20-08 08:46 PM

No I Am Very Proud Of It

:D Ok guys!
I am very proud of beeing an Norwegian:smug: :smug: ,but i thought this "dial up" was
the latest thing silly me:damn: you see in Norway ,things seem to be a little bit slow ,
take medicin forexample ,after two years the medicin come in Norway ,when that medicin have been in other countries for a while:-? Correction Paul Riley :
not "Snorri" but "Snorre Gustavson" :yep:

Hi there sailor Steve:lol:
some say that Columus discovered America , and some say "Leiv Eriksson"

Actually that is kiloBits per second. So that would be about 5.3-6.2kilobytes/s, as you need atleast 9 bits.

All I know is that it's the 1965 translation by Magnus Magnusson and Hermann Palsson.

I don't think there's much question that the Norse reached Newfoundland long before anyone else even thought about heading west, and Leiv (or Leif, as we hidebound English-speakers usually call him) was the man. On the other hand, their efforts ultimately failed, and, even if old Cristoforo Colombo didn't actually discover it, he was the guy who opened it up for colonisation.

It's kind of like arguing wether the Wright Brothers were the first to fly. Others may or may not have gotten airborn before them, but the Wrights were the first to make repeated experiments and show everybody how it's done.

Enough sophistry from me, though. All hats of to Leiv Ericsson, his dad Erik 'the Red', Bjarni Herjulfson (who saw it first and gave old Leiv the idea to go there seeking lumber), their successors Thorfinn Karlsveni and his wife Gudrid, and their son Snorri, who was actually the first white child born in America, some seven hundred years before Virginia Dare!
