I'm so glad that someone has taken it upon themselves to start this project. As most others that have posted, I too am very excited about this. I think that a WWI subsim done right would be a great game.

The only WWI subsim available right now (to my knowledge) is "1914: Shells of Fury." And it seems to have its share of issues including, but not limited to: Poor graphics, performance issues, no random campaign (ugh, makes me shudder :nope:), etc...

USS Sea Tiger, visit the WWI section at uboat.net. They have a whole bunch of neat info there that you might find useful.

Im keeing a close eye on this thread, I am a fanatical lover of everything WW1 and I cant wait for this mod

Hitman 08-25-08 01:06 AM

Even if not as many people are interested in WW1, this one deserves a sticky

Keep us updated on the development USS Sea Tiger :ping:

I like the idea very much, even though it means i will never finish the war campaign in GWX.

Hi,
I'm not a modder but I would like to help with ,,theory parts" about Austro-Hungarian campaign. I red some books dedicated to this topic and some of the infos may be useful.

Hope KuK navy will have some other U-boats than UBs... Holland's U-5, 6 and Germania's U-3, 4... please:)

BTW did you knew that 33% of all the AH sub sailors were Czechs? Quite a lot for a inland nation, isn't it?

A Brilliant Idea!

A very good idea!
Having read some books on this era I am really looking forward to this Mod.
Take your time, do not be rushed!
I hope you can convert some battleships from SHIII to ships like HMS Iron Duke.
Good Luck.
KUrtz

No pics but an update

Hi

no new pics today but hope for some soon.

As for the AH Submarines I am looking for plans for them. still nothing solid but the holland boat and the UBI's I am wanting the plans for the french sub captured and sailed by Von Trapp very much.

Thanks to a Major breakthrough supplied by Mikhayl and Anvart there will be the Iron duke, the Dreadnought, some older cruisers and also include some very nice clippers and coastal sailors and paddelers. I am hotly busy making conversions even as we speak.

Stumbling blocks still to be overcome, when models are imported vis s3d to the vii or IX classes they will not appear unless I delete teh deck gun node.
Working on making Mines appear and explode when in contact vsls.

the year is seemingly hard coded, cant change that so it seems. I can make the year 1914 but the war is still years in the future to start.

This looks cool.:D Cant wait for it to be released.:p

Madox58 08-28-08 10:41 PM

Very Cool Mod!

Does this mean you need some Air Ships?
;)

Both sides had them in WWI.

And a nice variety of them also.

iambecomelife 08-28-08 11:33 PM

Excellent news about the period ships. After all, the likes of "Rodney" and "King George V" would have looked badly out of place in 1914.

BTW, I will post info on WWI U-Boat ace tonnages tomorrow, if you haven't already obtained it from another source.

For AH commanders, submarines pictures, plans and details, look here:

That's sad. I would suggest then to edit the menus in a way that the year is not visible, only day and month. For the starting year/Flotilla screen you could try to change the labelling, that one would probably work. Also, have you tried if further years are possible? If you could have a campaign go from 1944 to 1948 you could then use only the ifnal number or even put a graphic overlay where the numbers appear hidding it and turning it into "191..." showing only the last number.

Check your PM please, Sea Tiger.

They were able of angle shots except the very early types which were hardly used on u-boats.

The latest G/7 could make up to 37 kn and reached 4000 m at this speed. Speed could be also set to 27 kn and reached then 9000 m. All types had a good visible bubble trail. Calibre was 50 cm. Old types were of 45 cm calibre.

I am glad someone is finally making a WWI mod for SH. What's the status of it ? :hmm:

Wolf359 09-11-08 06:36 AM

Really great work USS Sea Tiger!!

Are we able in K.u.K. play's with A-U side or only with Imperial Germany?

I keep my eye on your progress with K.u.K mod:ping:

Ahoy

Horsemann 09-13-08 11:09 AM

In a combination with already reached successes, this invention will surpass Shells Of Fury. I will look forward!
My interest to submarines WWI even above, than in WWII.

And here (if it is interesting) you can download the book (in Russian) Taras. А.Е "Submarines of Great war 1914-1918". The book represents the description of operations, designs of submarines, mechanisms, a lot of schemes and photos. Only it is a pity that there are no drawings... http://rapidshare.com/files/47080383...-1918.rar.html
