It would be great if you could build the S.S. America, which was the smaller version of the S.S. United States. The America was used as a troop transport throughout WW2 and went by the name of S.S. West Point during wartime. She sailed unescorted due to her high speed. By the end of the war the West Point had transported over a 100,000 Allied soldiers. The America also had numerous gun emplacements on board during the war:

The S.S. America would make a beautiful and historically accurate target!
(My Dad sailed on her along with 6,000 other soldiers from Norfolk to Naples,Italy in 1943!)

Can you make the S.S. America?

Looking good VonDos, I wish I could help you out with the wake problem! Where's Rubini when you need him!:yep:

Thanks, Reece; for now Privateer is giving me a GREAT hand ^_^

This ship will be released also with some guns, probably, yes; SS America could be a nice mod idea for the future, like laconia also...

VonDos,

Your model of the Rex has some of the basic shape of the SS America, perhaps you could use it as a starting point for a model of the SS America.

The Titanic looks fantastic! Just gorgeous!

There were others of the same class though that were used for troop transport ships (such as HMT Aquitania) in WW2::D
http://www.maritimequest.com/liners/...nia_page_4.htm

That was a different class. Not a single one of the original Olympic class survived to serve in WWII.

Reece 08-06-08 08:13 PM

Oh well! They look the same!
