Hitman, why does the in game map have to be zoomed in to 3.7nm in scale? Why can't it be any scale? Is it because the plotter is calibrated to 3.7nm scale?

ichso 05-01-09 03:53 AM

A nice idea  Even if you are not travelling north you can just assume you do and do everything relative to your own course. If you want to get the target's real course you can just add your own one later (and calculate modulo 360).

Only for a whole attack run it becomes a bit unhandy because it would be hard to adjust for your own course changes. Also you're limited to only one map scale which might be difficult if you have to track targets for a longer period of time.

But these are minor issues that hardly touch the main intend of your tool, as I understand it. I will give it a try, looks good ;).

Yes, exactly. All the plotter does is simply making it unnecessary to mark the advance of your submarine before the next update of the enmy position, hence the scale must match what the sub would really move, and for that I needed a fixed zoom, because the size of the scale is also fixed.

Yes, that's unfortunately a limitation of the game map. I wish that in the game each time we take a range and bearing reading (With stadimeter or radar), we could send the result directly to the map with a button. Would make plaotting not just more fun and easy, buta lso more realistic. It is a bit annoying to have things be more difficult in the game than they were in real life, LOL.

Hm, I tested your mod and realized that I don't get a map scale of 3.7. Only 3.3 or something bigger than 3.7. Shouldn't be caused by any mod, should it ?

And maybe it would be a nice idea to change your tool into a draggable one.

Folks, please, when you find a broken link at Filefront that means that it got caught up in their autodestruction cycle. Filefront sends you an e-mail (easily missed) telling you they've put one or several of your files on the annihilation list. If you don't visit and unflag them they're gone in a couple of days. It happens to everybody.

PLEASE if you find any files missing PM the author of the files. I guarantee they'll thank you. And it's not a bad idea to start a new thread like this one. We always like it when some older work we've done is missed and there are always new people at Subsim who might benefit! Just like this file of Hitman's, some oldies are goodies.:yeah:

Probably because you are running a screen resolution that is NOT 4:3 aspect ratio. Unfortunately -and unbelievably!!- the game changes the map scales when changing aspect ratio

Yeah, that's the first thing I thought of, but the problem is that then you will NOT be able to write with the map tools anywhare in the area covered by the draggable item :damn: and since you need to start the bearing line from the proper mark, it would render the tool unusable :shifty:

Do you have to be in port to enable this?

Dammit :) Still a mod too good to be left wasted.

Nope. Only in front of your computer.
(Seriously, you can activate any time, just without the game running so that it loads the updated files on start).

Thank you....:D

To Hitman

Hello Hitman,

I'm afraid I can't get the file in #5 of : http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=151269 for your file
http://files.filefront.com/SH4+Plott.../fileinfo.html
It says file is unavaliable. As are most of the links now in subsim under the same build.
It seems the only type of D/L pages I can get now are the ones built as follow : http://hosted.filefront.com/user/HitmanPacificAc. ( instead of previous :
http://hosted.filefront.com/HitmanPacificAc
Do you have another place where I can find this file. Did you do any file of the sort for SH3 as you said you would do ?
Thanks you.
JMV

Hitman : May I have a working link to your D/L page, all my FF links are broken ?

I'm goin' down 08-18-09 12:10 PM

Hitman

I will give it a try. Your tutorial on manual targeting with 100% realism introduced me to the complexities of the game, and I have been a fan of yours ever since.:salute:

I'm goin' down 08-19-09 02:40 PM

Hitman files not in plain view

I tried to download the plotting tool. The links are broken. Hitman, can you set up a new link, please?

BillBam 03-22-10 01:00 PM

Is there an updated link for this mod?

Hitman 03-22-10 01:33 PM

Here you go:

http://www.mediafire.com/?d4dmjqh115z

I must move all my files to Mediafire, Filefront has annoyed me too much already :timeout:

BillBam 03-22-10 03:13 PM

Got it ... thanks for the quick update!
