I'm glad you're back up and running, LCL. But you made a huge leap in logic in declaring that all nVidia video cards are crap, or don't work with SH4.
It could be, that A) The video card you got was defective(hey, it happens) B) Your new power supply is not of sufficient quality or watts to handle all the hardware in your case C) You had some sort of driver conflict that was wreaking havoc. or even D) You may not have had the new video card properly seated in the bus. The only reason I bothered posting is that someone may find this post in a search, and maybe the possibilities I listed above might help them. Anyway, I'm happy that you're back up & running. Sink'em all! :sunny: |
your right slick i did make a huge leap and i shouldnt have said that and i aplogize for saying it i just could not believe why it wouldnt work on my system and i was frustrated and thats not how a lt cmdr acts im now putting myself on latrine duty

We are not done yet. Did you remove all of ATI stuff? Did you do a complete file and folder search for ATI left overs? You might be surprised. I think 3DGuru has a progam to remove all ATI related files. I was running a X1300. I went and purchased the Nvidia 7800 GS. I had to remove hidden left overs from ATI. I was also running it with a 350 watt power supply. I would say your power supply is not the issue. I would say, bad card or conflict in drivers. Go find the removal tool of all ATI drivers. Then find the tool to remove all Nvidia drivers....I think it is called Driver Detonator. You can also do this I think in the device manager on your computer. Once cleaned up, load the current driver and see how she goes. Go to 3DGuru.com. I believe your answers are there.

Don't denigrate Nvidia
Hi,
I have an FX7300LE PCI card, not very powerful by any standards, but I cannot afford the luxury of an upgrade yet, so I O/C'd it to the max, just before artifacts cut in, without increasing voltage, and I'm happy with it. F.P.S. always above 25 and can even use max TC and get 6 FPS. Remember the old saying about the bad workman blaming his tools. RR |
hi warhawk i uninstalled all ati and nvidia cards and returned the nvidia card and bought the ati radeion HD2600 pro and updated the drivers and sh4 is working perfectly no problems so it was either a driver conflict or bad card the geek squad agents at best buy werent for sure but they feel it was a bad card so i just bought the ati card instead so all is well and i have made several patrols with the last patrol bagging to escort carriers

I will tell you that getting the ATI things off my computer was just a bit nuts. Once done searching files and folders everything seemed to work just find. Send us some screenshots in the screenshots forum of your new improved 3D world.
|
hi im registered with photobucket can you tell me how to post screenshots and i will post them
lt cmdr lare |
Sign in to photo bucket. You will see at the top were you can get the pics off your computer to upload. Also, see option at the top for the size of the pic you want it displayed. Normally 800x600 is good. Click browse and find the pic you want on your computer. Click save and then upload. Once done, keep this page open on the internet. Open another page for Subsim. When you start a post or reply, at the top you see a small pick of two mountains and the sun over it. Click on that, a small window pops up for the link to your picture. Go to the page you have open at photobucket and click on "direct link" under the picture you want. It will copy automatically. Switch back to the Subsim page and paste it to the small window you just created. It takes longer to type this then actually do it :rotfl:
Send as .jpg pics. Normally SH4 saves your screenshots in .BMP form. I just open then with Windows Paint, click save as and make it a .jpg. |
That worked. Do you have AA turned on?

what is AA
lt cmdr lare |
Anti Alaising. I noted on your pictures jaggies as they call them. In your ATI card set up, look for AA X2 or X4. This helps clean up the jaggies. Need to fine tune that card you got!

Lt. Cmdr.Lare, AA is anti-aliasing. It is a graphic card function which smooths out the "jagged" lines on objects. That's about as basic an explanation you can get:yep: Oops, AVG you beat me too it. Sorry about that |
where do i go to change this im not real good with graphics cards
