If you contact the original 3D Artist he MAY give you the model.
I'd explain how many people World wide play this Sim and How much this model is needed. Plus I'd push that fact I'd proclaim his name as often as possible. And he get's free publicity at SubSim.com. Worst that can happen is he say's "Pony up the 33 bucks!" |
How about we offer him SH4 + UBM? I have two unopened discs here...
[edit] Who knows, he may enjoy it, and start creating more units, for free  |

Nothing like seeing your creation on fire, with planes spilling off the decks :)
Sorta like me putting a BB model in the local lake, then shooting it with my BB gun back in the day :arrgh!: |
Turbosquid even has a very nice Graf Zeppelin Flugzeugtrager, which never got completed during WWII. But wtf!?!?! $200!:nope: Would have been a great one for an extension to ivank's TSWSM, with the other Z plan warships.
http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPrevie....cfm/ID/338334 What I would say is the Nagato model is a seemingly fair price by looking at its superior quality. I have brought this topic up before that I would love to see the Nagato and Mutsu come to life in SHIV. Although these two battleships saw minimal duties during WWII, but these two ships were without doubt important to Japan, with its eight powerful 16 in. guns, it was the second most powerful class of battleships in the Imperial Navy, only to the Yamato class. Its origins from the First World war, when Japan was a close ally to the entente powers, where the Japanese navy had adopted many concepts from the British, one example was the Kongo class Battlecruiser/Fast battlship, which employed similarities to the britsh battlecruisers. However in 1920, Japan was building its first igneous super-dreadnought, entirely from Japanese design, the Nagato class, which was matched by the US's West Virginia class battleships and its 8 16 in. guns, as the most powerful battleship in the world. The Nagato became the flagship of the Imperial Navy until the Yamato's commision in 1941. The Mutsu blew up in July of 1943 by a fatal cordite combustion. The Nagato went on to be the only Japanese Battleship to survive the war afloat. Enough of the lecture of history....:p IMHO These two battleships are hard to leave out in th game, they still EXISTED during WWII, it would be cool to have a what if naval battle involving all the Japanese and US Battleships and their escorts ofcourse, which I make in the mission editor. And see who is the last navy standing.:p Or how bout a Mutsu conspiracy theory: Sunk by a US submarine sneak attack, not by a fatal explosion by cordite.;) Best Regards, Seawolve44 |
Well gentlemen, time to time.Lets TSWSM team do their excellent job and after that, like Ivank told us in a post -there will be Carriers-,we can bring to life a fantastic Carrier Ops supermod implementing all the active units of that age,and also non comissioned ones like the Graff Zeppelin as a kind of what if situation.
At that point, some 3d models can be purchased if needed, count with me guys  . Time to time. |
Anyone asked anything?
|
I just went and checked out the japanese carrier and the Graf Zepp, I loved the Graf, I would not mind buying it, I just need the money. Wasnt to happy with the Jap one, it could just be the angle and that I am just waking up(lol). If you guys find any other ship models, that are great, please PM me. I am always looking for them. anything to take the work off Shammer427's back

As I am the original author of the Nagato model, I can give it for free if anyone can implement it successfully to the SHIV(Send PM). Atleast price shouldn't be the stopper in this case. I'd love to see all her guns working. Shame that this computer doesn't have enough horses to run the game or I would have implemented it myself. The model took 40 hours to complete and the money wasn't the primus motor in this case.
The model was originally intented for use in VS but I haven't had time to finish her for that platform http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...forumimage.jpg |

EDIT: I should warn you, that your model will be edited for historical accuracy(AA guns etc...) and new skins will be added. |
Thanks,
You should have the model in your email. I think you and your team will have quite a time renovating her for the SH4, but have fun :) I will join the team if I get better computer so I could see the results myself. I will let you know. |

I'd like to have a look at the model as well. I may be able to assist in importing it.
Perhaps ivank can forward it? (see e-mail in S3D about box) |
I don't grok importing the models (yet), but I am comfortable with with setting up the dat once the model is in. We can probably get someone like observer to bang out the zon stuff, too.
The guns are likely mostly already in the game, there are a large number of IJN guns already there. If the model is in pieces now, there are a few things it will need. It needs a damaged state for the hull. It needs a very simplified version for the reflection model. I think that a few superstructure parts disconnected from the base model allow them to be blown off by hits, too. Some models only have a funnel, and maybe some cranes like this. Others have prat of the bridge, etc. Having some bits as separate objects would be useful to have the thing evolve over the war, too. |

although I would have liked a beautiful I-52 for Xmas ;) (btw I asked the 3d artist who made turbosquid's I-52 for the National Geographic, we'll see..., other people have donated their art for our mods, like the painters John Meekes and Michel Guyot) Welcome to Subsim ! Keltos |
Hello Captains,
hello dear owner of this nice Nagato ! Me and my Partner AOTD|Rhonen are very interested to implement your Nagato- Modell to SH4. Rhonen is the one who can cut the moddel into pieces ( Guns, Mast´s and so on ) and iam able to make the rest of the work. It would be nice to get your modell ! Here you can see ouer actual work, the british battleship HMS Queen Elisabeth ! http://www.aotd-flottille.de/FOTRS/Bilder3/BBQEBau.jpg This modell is complete buildet by AOTD|Rhonen ! http://www.aotd-flottille.de/FOTRS/Bilder3/BBQE1.jpg We only have to rework some UV-Mapping and some Texture-Details !
