As you wish. You post in a highly aggressive and provocative manner. Your most recent poll, with it's highly politicized answers is a perfect example. You know the buttons to push to get other members wound up, then place the bait and wait for those members to come in and go for that worm. Of course, this was all to put an end to 'US bashing', which was largely absent on this forum until you posted that thread. Thus, you create your own conflict. This is a textbook definition of baiting.

Of course, when confronted with this truth, you wrap yourself in the blanket of 'free speech' and proclaim yourself an advocate for the SubSim membership, becoming all the more belligerent in the process. This forces moderators, like me, to have to chase you around the forum, putting out the fires that you started, and I am getting very tired of doing so.

I apologize for making you moderate. My bad. The kitchen can become hot.
My poll was nothing more than an effort to understand why the rest of this board regards the US so poorly. I have lost count how many anti-US threads have been posted without the same accusations of ' highly aggressive and provocative' charged toward those posters. An equal hand would have been a ppreciated by those of us whom dislike the attacks.

I have already broken my personal rule (too many times) by responding to moderators, but I thought you should know my feelings.

EDIT: 1,534 views in three days is indicative of the interest in the topic.

Back on the topic of donating, I don't see how it should be related to how much you post or do not, I regard it more as a case of how much one enjoys using the forum and site. I think that should be the best measure of whether anyone thinks they should donate. Personally, I am quite happy to throw some money at Subsim, because I get a lot out of it.

If I want to learn about a subject, I usually buy a few books on it, but there is plenty I have learned from Subsim in terms of queries about submarines and much more besides, and that probably extends way beyond what I might have learned from perhaps one of the books that I have bought, which may have cost ten or twenty quid. So when you view it like that, making a donation is a small price to pay. And it is not as if you cannot do it without getting something for your efforts either if you prefer that to a pure donation, buying a copy of the Almanac is one, as is making other purchases via the site.

And here is another good reason to do so, especially if you are not in the US: Currently, the Dollar stands at 2.11 Dollars to Sterling, which means if you are in the UK (and most of Europe for that matter), your donation will go a long way.

Anyway, I'm off to put my money where my mouth is...

I donated awhile ago simply because I first stumbled accross this site when playing SH2 and since I have downloaded more mods then an expansion pack could fit. Mind you that's over Sh2, SH3 and SH4 but I felt it was time to support the site that supports my games.

Plus I wanted a cool avatar. :rotfl:

Right, done (again LOL). That should get you a fair few tins of sardines.

Kapitan_Phillips 11-08-07 07:46 PM

I donated twice. What the hell do you mean you're down to one sardine!

Chock 11-08-07 07:55 PM

It's the falling Dollar, one sardine is now 500 bucks:rotfl:

Or at least it would be if they imported it from Europe at the moment.

@ Waste_Gate

Neal could resort to shooting Mexicans illegally crossing the border, then looting their bodies for Pesos.:o

On the 8th of November, at 1:38 am I wrote THIS, to be precise:

Quote:

I know by multiple experiences now that it is only a question of time until you (Waste Gate) will run into troubles with people and the moderation again, like often before, and prove all by yourself by your very own acts that I am right on target with my assessment of you. You proved it before, and you will prove it again, it is a safe bet.

All I need to do is lean back, enjoy my coffee, and wait.
And just 26 hours later, on the 9th of November at 3:38 by coincidence, we enjoy your latest pathetic stage act right here (including the obligatory erratic quoting).

That is almost like express delivery on demand. :dead:

Thanks, Chock, your very substantial donation was received and is very appreciated, mate.

Also, big shout out to Subsim sponsors Steven "Godfather" R., Lonzo "Break the Bank" G., and Gerald "No Subsim hobos for me" C.

The sardine vault has been replenished

That pesky data center where we lease our forum and download servers, I pay the bill one month, and 30 days later they wanna get paid again! :D

CCIP 11-08-07 11:45 PM

I looked at this thread for a couple of minutes, then reached for that button and donated enough for Neal to get a whole pitcher. Happy? :p

(I guess that takes care of my trying to pop in something every year, too)

Letum 11-08-07 11:50 PM

May I enquire as to the ammount of the total running costs?
How much of this is coverd by donations?

Thanks, Chock
Actually, it was a mistake, I was trying to type 'full-on lesbo sex action video' and typed 'subsim' by mistake on the paypal page. I hate it when that happens.

If it weren't for Subsim I wouldn't be able to enjoy SH2, SH3 and SH4 nearly as much as I do because of all the info, mods and tweaks. Last time I was about to make a donation, however, I ended up buying Distant Guns instead. :stare:
