LET THEM EAT THEIR OWN MEDICINE! :yep:

That will give the right success to a wolvepack working a one of those convoys:
One boat kills the escorts and the others start the duck-shooting game...

No more supply of cigars for Mr. Churchill :D

Glad to see I'm not alone bending BdU rules!

I know it isn't historically accurate, but I can't help it, the smug bastards! Racing for my last known location like nothing can touch them and force ME down? I wasted a couple silent approaches after letting fly at the merchants, because that destroyer coming straight at me was just too juicy a target...:arrgh!:

I found a tactic that, bar a dud, works 99.9% of the time.:yep:
I probably waste half my loadout on escorts, but I discovered my tactic is just as feasible with a IX, so...yeah. Oh so worth the satisfaction, watching them sink like cockleshells, they really are frail things compared to a large merchant. Oh what is it going to be like when I get my hands on Zaunkönig T5s... There's gonna be lotsa Walker wannabes taking a swim, that is, until the day I slip and end up with the fishies myself. :nope:

defensive DtT shots

While I don't spend torpedoes hunting down escorts (though it's a fun exercise to massacre an undefended convoy), I do fire the occasional defensive shot.

For instance, if a black swan is making it's approach with active sonar, and it's entered that straight-run portion of the attack at say - 600m, I sometimes go for a zero-gyro down-the-throat shot with a T2. The default depth setting is perfect for snap keelshots against escorts. With the black swan out of the way and only a few cheesy Hunt destroyers remaining, my chances of survival greatly improve.

Also, sometimes I'll get caught and DCed in shallows, in perfectly calm weather, and the escorts turn out to be too good to evade. In this case, it's just a waiting game till an ashcan crushes your control room. After repeated failed evasion attempts, low battery, stuffy air, I'll jump to PD and try to take out my attackers as a last-ditch option.

Black Swan class= Black Death class!
I'm in VIIB, late 42, and those buggers are hard to evade(esp. in clear weather). With 4 DC launchers and 2 DC racks, theyre pretty tough.
I'm having to re-evaluate my attacks each time and I'm having to fire from a further distance. But that's the fun of SH3(with SH3Cmdr and GWX)

after 3 patrols i have sent 22 ships on a lifetime tour of the ocean floor:ping: . unfortunately only one was a destroyer, Tribal class:cry: . my current patrol i have come across a carrier TF, Illustrious, Southampton and a few DDs. wave bye-bye to Illustrious ,everyone:ping:. haven't seen a Black Swan, yet.
