Trust me, I havent even opened the manual and learned everything during the first 2 hours. The tutorial tips & hints you get during the play explaing everything.

EDIT:

Here, check these 2 reviews. Gives you abit better view on it. The IGN review mentions load times & crash issues, but I think the review has been done pre 1.2 patch, as my load times are quick and have had no crashes on my ~20hr game.

Yahtzee, self admitedly has a strong dislike for most rpg games and mumorpuguhs in particular. So I would take that review with a large grain of salt.

Also I have to realy dissagree with you on console rpgs (I have a strong aversion to them).

Save RPGs for consoles, they can't give you far too many keys then

Nah Rotary The Witcher is a good game trust me, as for the keys what dowly said, hell i never read the manual either the first chapter of the game is kinda like a tutorial that by the time you end Chapter 1 you would have worked everything out. Key wise.

But yeah i need to finish this game:damn:.

Rotary Crewman 01-29-08 03:21 PM

How come Neon? I love the accuracy you get with a mouse and keyboard but for speed in terms of actions and selection of weapons etc you can't beat a pad.

NeonSamurai 01-30-08 12:43 PM

Most tend to be rather shallow RPG's, I also generaly dislike the Final Fantasy style ones as i tend to find them dull to irritating. I also don't much care for game pads.

Rotary Crewman 01-30-08 12:47 PM

I'm not a great fan of the linear ways of FF either. But an example of Oblivion shows that it is possible to give a great RGP to a console.

But, horses for courses and all that!

PS. Gamecopyworld is not a pirate site to by the way Neon. Read their disclaimer. They deal in traininers and no-cd executables. Copying games for the world (anyone for example) is not allowed nor tolerated and they refuse to post code to do so. If you don't have the orginal game for installation for example, you are screwed at this site. Figured I'd point that out, but I will also respect your wishes on the matter too.

Beat the game twice with two diffrent endings, Luv this game, women, dice poker, tavern fist fights, drinking contests , great stuff ! :arrgh!:

Technically those no cd files is all you need to pirate a copy of a game, aside from getting the actual game from somewhere of course. Also guess who makes those no cd files (the pirate groups who release pirate copies)..

Though GCW is not a pirate site per say, A lot of pirates do use that site as a resource to either trade games with friends, or to get the no cd for the latest patch for their pirated copy.

Also its not my wishes per say but Neals, no cd links are a strict no no.

So anyhow no more GCW links or references plz :)

Back on semi topic, Oblivion is still far better on pc then console imho (could have been better still if they had actualy designed the UI for pc)

He seems to have a pretty similar gaming love as I do. Except for WoW...which he hates:lol:

I use it because I hate getting the proper CD out half the time I want to play something! :D It is not a very efficient pirate site if they are using it for that - as you said - you still need the actual CD to install it and since most CD's these days require an install code...

Fair enough though. It does have some (very loose) ties to groups that are of questionable morals, so I will comply - no more talk of GCW!!! :D

***Alert - old thread resurrection***

The Witcher enchanced edition (TWEE) is out, bought it yesterday, v.good! other than the usual load of extra "making of.." and "soundtrack" dvds the game now contains 2 extra adventures, a game guide, the game engine has been optimised (load times reduced by 80%) and updated, up to 200 new animations and a " create your own" Adventure editior called D'jinni. i believe if you own the game already the 1.4 patch is this upgrade, although i went out and bought the new box to get all the extra bits. I've just played the for about 4 hours and i must say this is one of the best RPG's i've played, although i can't helping feeling the main protaganist is a Jedi in medieval times - as it feels like KOTOR set in the Dark ages!!

NeonSamurai 10-05-08 09:37 AM

Yep they made it a lot better, one thing you forgot is that they rerecorded a lot of the dialog so now the stories make sense. This is what the game should have been at release. If you own the original game you can get everything here to patch it up to the EE version. Oh and all the extra bits are also available for download as well.

Just wanted to say, the best memory I have of this game was having my corpse urinated on by an npc.

I don't think I've ever been so happy to lose. It was unbelievably funny. One of those "didn't see that coming" kinda things.

CaptHawkeye 10-15-08 08:10 PM

Witcher is a game that's just bursting with good design decisions on the part of the development team. Personally i'm more an open-world "Mr. Flashpoint" sort of person. So the fact that I thought the game was even the slighest entertaining should be worth notice. Turns out Witcher is just the result of good planning and *gasp* thinking, on the part of the developer. Something so few of them even bother to do these days.

Nah, they're usually too busy stirring up hype with marketing buzzwords, like "epic trilogy" and "player experience". Translated from corporate to english, they mean "scam". So it's pretty refreshing when developers knew what they were doing, (Unlike blind, deaf, and dumb EA) but never succumbed to mindless self indulgence. (Like Silicon Knight's most recent ejaculate.) :)
