I have found some really good news to report. I also found a few more operational orders as well....message about priority on tankers from Admiral King and intelligence on Japanese fitting radar detectors on escorts. Good stuff.

There is a plethera of information and news that can go into this mod. Would most prefer news that pertains to the PTO? Of course the major events in ETO will still be sent out as Pac News but not the smaller new events.

It isn't easy looking at all those lines and doing what your doing so everyone will like how it comes out seeing how well your going through all the information we get over the radio.

My main goal is to have over 100 lines of news that can be sent out, but part of that goal is not to have it hit the sub and clog the clipboard all the time. I have seemed to been able to do this. In theory, if I have over 200 lines of Pac News, there will always be a variety and not so many repeats as we see now. I see how messages, when/if, they are received is controllable. I have added abour 20 new lines on the stock and will test tonight. Today I have over 50 more lines to add. If she works like I plan, this could turn out very nicely. If not, it is one hell of a history lesson!

are you going to make this compatible with taters new campagne layers, since he also has new messages?

What I plan on doing and the reason I'm doing it is modding the original file as the file that came with Taters mod always came up with "message content" when Pearl was attacked. This drove me nuts. My first attempt was using the file from Taters mod but the same thing happened. Something somewhere was triggering the message but with nothing showing. One I get this completed, I will do one of two things, hand over the mod to Tater and he can add the lines and or, Tater can just send me the date and what message to add. In theory, the mod should work as it should within Taters workings. I love Taters mod also and ultimately this is what I want to work because Taters starts you before the war and it clips the sub types at each base you can use. Just over all more logic in the shipping. :yep:

A few months ago, I was tinkering with a coded and decoded version of Radio Messages via the ECOPTC utility by Kim Rønhof:
The Electronic Cipher officer for PTC (ECOPTC).The ECOPTC is a program that can convert a plain text message into enciphered text. And, of course, the reverse action - decipher an enciphered message. The ECOPTC uses a simulation of the CSP888/889 (the coding machine that was used on US subs in WW II).

I have over 50 new entries of news. I have made the original file entries a bit more creative and informative. So I'm guessing there are over 150 entries at this time. Last night work was understanding how it works and what can be done and not done in the file itself. Tonight was actual entries. Every Christmas you WILL get a message from CINCPAC! They want you to feel warm and loved as you risk your neck! I did a quick month patrol and the clipboard was not clogged with news. Again, it is toned down so you are not constantly reading the news. Going for the variety measure here. Keep in mind the news will not drop you out of high TC, only operational orders are set up to drop to 1X. Also, they transmit between 1800 hours and 2300 hours, normally when you are on the surface hunt in the night time hours.

Fine by me Leo. Still trying to understand the inner workings. If I title it Operational News, I can stop you from high TC, no problem. Some of the original text when altered will not work and I can not figure out why! For example, the first Merry Christmas I set up as high priority and transmit until received.....no dice. At the bottom of the page I retype the who thing with my own message and title it Operational News it works....really stange man. Still working on it.

New patch coming out......hmmmmmm.....

BTW, the new patch was rumored to show enemy bases on the map.

That's another reason I didn't go too far trying to grok leo's mod, adding it to mine would be a LOT of work, I can tell, and if the devs make bases pop onto the map... ouch.
