What version of GWX are you using ? :hmm:

There is a chart wich show where to hit a ship to get a 1 torpedo kill.

Just search for it here on the subsim site or google it.

I got it here on my pc but nowere to send it to.

It's also available from my sig 'shipchart'.....it is however based on stock SH3

@ jimbuna ... I am running GWX version 1.3 ...... other observations include :

says " Initialzing " when loading now and not the " Not so long ago " as I was use to seeing when I first installed and used it ( my 2nd install - fresh ) ......................

Says " Enemy unit destroyed " and not the " she's going down " when sinking a ship

Enemy landing ships deck gunners say " Loose " just like my deck gunners ( traitors I think since they are speaking German ) ..............

Enemy destroyers, near land ,will run themself unto sub nets or even beach themself onto land for no apparent reason ( just patroling ) ........

But thats not the bad thing ... game has been running great until this moning when I loaded up to continue my carreer ( June 18th , 1940 9th patrol ) .... nothing added , nothing removed ( mods nor files or anything ) ... Now I am getting " dead by collision " in the middle of no-where ... like i hit a wall ....... I suspect , as I saw very briefly once , it said " Base changed to Lorient " and then we on the bottom with the death screen ....... I tried to request a transfer at base but it wasn't aviaible .....

I might have to un-install and start over .... not sure ...........

I'd strongly suggest you reinstall mate :yep:

1. Uninstall SH3 via Windows' "Add/Remove programs"
2. Open Windows Explorer and:
- *delete* the folder where you had installed SH3
- *delete* the \My Documents\SH3 folder
3. Reinstall SH3
4. If your SH3 did not come with patch v1.4b already included, install patch v1.4b. Ensure you install the patch that corresponds to your copy of SH3 (Download/DVD/EMEA/US)
5. OPTIONAL: Copy and paste this "clean" install as a backup to avoid the need to follow steps 1-3 if your game becomes corrupt in future
6.Download into the SAME folder GWX.exe and the five .bin files. While there grab the v1.03 patch
7. Run GWX.exe and follow the installation prompts
8. Run GWX103.exe and follow the installation prompts
9. SH3 COMMANDER USERS: Download the GWX 1.02+ Cfg files for SH3 Commander and unzip the contents DIRECTLY into your SH3 Commander\Cfg folder.

Thanks.. I figured as much .. so re-installed ( 3rd time now ) .... and now have the not so long ago ... plus she's going down ..... having to start over is no big deal to me since I was only in mid 40's ( 6 -7 months of war ) .... so far I am still in mid patrol to get my carreer set right in the folder trees ..... when I get back to base I'll engerize the mods and such.......

I think I goofed up my game the first 2 times by not doing number 9 as you stated above since I do use the SH3 Commander ... I downloaded and added those cfg files to the commander program.... thanks for the reminder ...

All the ships I've sank are marked in red, except the last one, which is marked in grey. Needless to say I am a bit worried for my renown. Have I shot innocents? It still says "enemy unit destroyed". Is there a way to see if you sank a neutral or something?

Surface and surrender. Learn the lesson.

BTW, you have to be surfaced to load external torpedoes.

yes, for the torps I know. But what do you mean with "learn the lesson"? It was a red box, so I enganged, only when it sank it turned grey. Go figure.:hmm:

If you got the "shes going down" message, you should get the renown :up:

Yes....on occasion....it sometimes signifies that the vessel was sunk by means other than you ie: mines or weather....but not always :arrgh!:

If I am not running GWX, I cannot reload at ports? Is this correct? I'm playing the campaign and are arriving at hamburg but I don't get the reload option. :down: Also, how can I find the GWX patch? I found this (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=102096) but which one do I load?

you have to download all 5 of them.

undue all your mods

download the 5 .bin files, put them in your sh3 director

download gwx.exe put that in your directory and run it.

after installation is complete, download/run gwx.exe 1.03

that will update you to gwx 1.03

So I can't reload at ports without GWX?

yes .. you can ... just dock like your base ... you can't award medals or anything like that ..... you get fresh torpedo's and fuel and food ... continue your mission and then make your way back to your assigned base ..... once there you can award awards to your crew ......

The only option you can't carry out is the upgrading of equipment....awarding medals is allowed :yep:
