MMM Guinea Pig, I assume it'll be the pork version of Quail. :88)
Safe Keeper: Never mentioned that they shouldn't eat dog. I wouldn't do it myself as I'm a dog fan. I'd probably prefer to eat bugs, which I would do rather than starve. The main point of posting this is to point out that Korea is a mess of a place. |
I work for a Korean comany, I think I'll avoid the Korean dish of the day....
...You mean that wasn't beef?:dead: :/\\!! |
Putrefied fish is another delicacy popular in some asian and New Zealand cultures. Not too bad once you get past the smell.

Hehe, reading this thread reminded me of when I was in Vietnam. I enjoyed what I *thought* was an Ox soup. Only afterwards was I told what it really was - "Thịt chó", or dog meat - (cheeky Vietnamese hosts).
Still, I didn't mind it. But then again, I LOVE Black Pudding (and white pudding for that matter), Haggis, Bara Lawnr laverbread, Dinuguan, sweetbread... |

Whats wrong with dog? We eat cow and pig here, so whats the difference? Try and eat a cow in India and see what happens! Try and eat pig in the middle east and see what happens!
SOme people have pigs as pets - do you think they might have a problem with pork? Then we can get into PETA. Never quite understood the PETA people, or I mean, the Animal Crackers! -S PS. Time to get out my video collection. Give me a bit and I'll post the tasty crispy turantula treats you can eat over there too! I'll post this tonight! |
Looking forward to it (for educational purposes of course) :D

Oooooooh, you mean the one where you roast it in the fire, throw away it's legs, then suck out the smooth creamy centre? |
During WW2, Australian POW's in Singapore created dog clubs, where they capture, kill, cook and eat dogs. After awhile cats were added to the menu due to the declining number of dogs.
After the war it was believed that they had to re introduce dogs and cats as they had to be eaten out of exisitance! The POW who wrote about this said that dogs tasted a little like beef. They even had a ranking on how many could be feed from a dog. A small dog, like a poodle, could feed one to tow people. A large dog like a great dane, could feed 10 to 12! |

Now that's a hot dog. If it came down to it i'd probably eat dog over haggis and blood pudding. I know some people have said it's nice but black pudding just sounds grose. :p |
Haggis is delightful. Blood pudding I have never tried.
Dog, I dunno. If I was travelling somewhere it was popular I might be tempted to try it. Probably not. I'm not even a big dog fan (as pets), but the ones I can think of that I know don't seem very meaty. Also I was severely scarred at a young age by some Asian horror flick on late at night where the wife got revenge on her cheating husband by serving his pet dog as a roast one night. Made me sad. |

I don't eat birds cause birds are to awesome to be killed... which brings me to how much I hate cats.. I hate cats with a passion, cats are just food for dogs imho. :p Yes it bothers me that people eat dogs also mostly cause of how close I am to my dogs. Fish, Beef, Venison and aliens that piss me off are fair game though. |
I have no problem with people who don't eat pigs. If they think less of me for doing so then I'm sorry for their loss. (I am like sooo cool and all.)
I don't find people who eat dog disgusting, I more feel sorry for them as it is most likely that they are resorting to eat them out of necesity more than a delicacy. Although I'm sure some dish's would be tastey. I do however find people who eat whale to be monsters. Just as anyone would think me a monster for killing endangered animals. |
