Coral Sea

Jim, just downloaded the files and put it in as a single patrol and as a war patrol. Worked perfectly, thanks. It is so much better than the original, who ever heard of a patrol starting in the middle of a battle. Must away to sea.

Right! :arrgh!:

Been playing with this Patrol - got intrigued how to get it to work :damn:
Your first unit must be players sub??
If many units are close - like in harbours - they can't be validated in Mission Editor (reporting min. distance must be 300 meter)?!?

-
So first I removed all units and placed a Players Sub as first and only unit. Made it playable and with entry date as/or before patrol start. Now all types can be selected...

After validating all is okay, I manually added the other units in harbour through notepad...

All appears to be working now... :|\\
The new edition is uploaded here http://www.mediafire.com/?eg3gxmx10ws

To Jim: sorry for hi-jacking your thread

There must be another way to do this? Anyone?

Thats OK !! I ran the partol about a week ago and discovered many new things
myself. Watched many battles between air & surface forces. Had Vals & Zeros
drop on me many times but avoided them all. I even had 4 kates drop torps in
the water. I was at 100 feet when I watched the torps go right over me. If I
had been at PD, BOOM !! Many allied pilots were in the water but I could not pick them up. I will have to change the secondary objective to rescure operations.
Ended up sinking a Hvy. Cruiser, an Escort Carrier, a Passenger ship (troops)
and a med. frieghter for 26,000+ tons. I ran out of time so I had to quit with
those numbers. I will make changes to the mission & re-release it...

I'm finally relieved from duty in the Kriegsmarine, so I use your Patrol to get myself acquainted with my new american sub.
What an incredible weapon!

Took out an entire Task Force singlehanded! Good to be a freedom fighter! :smug:
Of course we got a little help, as the IJN got distracted by an US airattack.

Never seen so many airplanes before :o but hey! it keeps the crew on their toes.
Lots of aircombats and we rescued two pilots (had to swap out to SubSim to find out how on earth to pick up the poor sods) - very nice feature in SH IV!

Looking forward to test your revised Patrol. Very interesting scenario!

OK, got the "Coral Sea" patrol to about where I want it. Working Good !!
Also revised an old patrol I did some time back called "Harbor Stealth". I had to make sure it would still work OK with patch 1.3. I am also testing a new patrol I just did called "Sink the Yamato". So far it has some exciting elements while hanging around Rabaul. This one is mostly shipping and not much in the way of aircraft like Coral Sea was. Hopefully I can post them up for DL in the next few days....

Just finished my "Trigger Maru 1.4 Flavoured To Taste" :smug: so these shall be my testing Missions

Thanks a lot

Subject 07-31-07 01:33 PM

And! - they are not compatible with my "TMFTT"... http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...es/weeping.gif

http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...es/biggrin.gif

But no problems when mod's disabled!

Wonder if there's an explanation? Or can I do something?

FAdmiral 08-05-07 10:06 PM

I would say if the patrol won't load with that mod installed, then something
is interfering with the way I have the patrol set up. Will the mod work with
your vanilla patrols from the game?

JIM

Subject 08-06-07 01:53 PM

I've tested these patrols:

Coral Sea
Sink Yamato
Harbour Stealth
Taco ring the Bells

They all fail with mods enabled (TM 1.4 with additional stuff), but they do run fine with mods disabled...

WP01 through WP05 (org. SHIV patrols) all runs with mods enabled...

FAdmiral 08-07-07 10:45 AM

Try to get back to the person who did the TM mod to see if he
has any ideas on why the mod won't work with editor created
missions or patrols. I will see if I can PM him too...

JIM

tater 08-07-07 11:03 AM

It doesn't work because the SC and MS are changed from type=0 and type=5 to type=1.

If you open your mission in a text editor, find the SCs and MSs, and change their types to type=1 they will work fine in TM.

Subject 08-07-07 03:46 PM

/edit aug. 8:

Do work for "Coral Sea", but not for the others...

So... Now I've split my mod into two parts, isolating campaign, roster and sea in one part. Doesn't take many seconds to enable/disable and now all missions and patrols works.

Thanks for the explanation, tater

FAdmiral 08-12-07 08:56 PM

I have been testing the "Sink the Yamato" patrol for the last week. I wanted to
see if the Yamato TF would indeed make all the stops that I had in the editor
makeup. I had its TF make a large circular patrol starting in Japan and then
ending in Japan but stopping at various ports for limited amounts of time. I knew
the best way to find it was to wait at a paticular spot on its route. What I didn't
know was when it would get there BUT I do now. I just sank the Yamato along with 22 other merchants (while I was waiting) also 1 DD by accident (should have been 23 merchants). Going by what tater had said about going .001 speed at a port, I deceided to try that feature to simulate the TF stopping at the port for
fuel or the like. The TF had approx. 6 port stops. ranging from the Philippines
to Palau to Rabaul, down the slot, around the Solomons and then on to Guam
and Saipan befor heading back to Tokyo. I started the patrol at Brisbane on
June 6, 1943. My tonnage was a modest 182,374. All in all, a very good patrol.
Side Note: I saw Adm. Halseys Carrier TF in my travels too. (it came from the
camapign layers, not my editor)
