Anyone ever think about revisiting this issue?
|
I wish someone would - my muse has deserted me and I've run out of ideas for now. It's obvious that you can move this phantom background around, because when I moved the manual up to get it out of the way of the pull-tab on the TDC, the phantom background/buttons went with it, BUT I've tried to chart it out and lots of trial-and-error, and still no luck getting the phantom background to slide back out of the way when the rest of the book does - very frustrating 'cause you have to close the book in order to set your torpedo dials, which defeats the purpose of having the book open so you don't lose your place :damn:

Actually, I've realized I am not having this problem. I'm using the straight Stand alone slide out mod.
What I am realizing from your screenshot on the previous page, is you must have enlargened your rec manual. Mine is not that tall, and it fits underneath the position keeper, therefore there is no conflict with the buttons. |

Since I have a heavily altered menu_1024_768.ini file, I couldn't use the file in the mod, and was trying to make only the changes I needed to get the manual to slide (especially since I figured I could move the manual up on the screen and get it out of the PK's way that way, before I realized the phantom background was gonna be a problem). Guess maybe I'll have to try making all of the mod's changes and see if that does the trick - seems like the PK would have to get a lot smaller though for there to be room underneath it but still above all the other buttons and stuff on the bottom toolbar. |
I included a separate directory for 1024x768 users in the mod, just so that it wouldn't interfere with anything.

Well - that didn't work
Just made all the changes to the menu_1024_768.ini file that were in the 1024x768 version of the mod, but the manual still overlaps the TDC and interferes with the buttons/functions (just at the bottom, instead of at the top like where I had moved it). I did notice some changes in a section I don't remember seeing before, so I'm gonna go back and play around with those sections a little bit and see if that helps. |
You guys do realise that all you need to do is click on the area where the recog manual would normally slide out and it will pop open to where you last left it. Just click to open and click to close.
I dont know if it works in stock but I do it all the time since I loaded RFB 1.28. . |

I tried playing around with one of the other sections I noticed, but so far no luck. Any ideas still welcome - (either about how to move the background out of the way, or otherwise fix the manual so it opens up on the same page you were on when you closed it last) - any suggestions? |
panthercules, I'm running at 1680 x 1050

Ah yes, very interesting. I never calculated this manually. Well then, for those who play with that degree of realism I guess the non scaled mask is the way, for now.

O.K. Found the working fix that will get you real aspect ratio and fix this problem:
If you have 1280x1024 resolution: Change: [G28 I120] Name=Background Type=1030;Static bmp ItemID=0x28000001 ParentID=0x28000000 Pos=0,0,1024,768 Zone= 0 768 1024 768 1 1 0x28000000 0.5 -0.5 0x28000001 -0.5 0.5 0 0 Color=0xFFFFFFFF Materials=1 Display=2;Linear Mat 0=data/menu/gui/layout/tbt_1024.tga Crop 0=0,0.125,1,0.75 MatFlags=0x9 TexFmt=0x0 To: [G28 I120] Name=Background Type=1030;Static bmp ItemID=0x28000001 ParentID=0x28000000 Pos=0,0,1152,864 Zone= 0 768 1152 864 1 1 0x28000000 0.5 -0.5 0x28000001 -0.5 0.5 0 0 Color=0xFFFFFFFF Materials=1 Display=2;Linear Mat 0=data/menu/gui/layout/tbt_1024.tga Crop 0=0,0.125,1,0.75 MatFlags=0x9 TexFmt=0x0 1024:768=1.333 1152:864=1.333 1280:1024=1.25 > if you use this one it will stretch your screen. |
