I downloaded the bins 1-5 from Melbonian as I couldn't get one of the servers to work. Now I have the bin in a folder on my desktop. :oops: what do I do now?
(I'm a total computer klutz)

PS I tried to run the EXe from Danlisa's site , it tells me it can't find bin 1

I had a similar message whenever I start up my computer. It happens as soon as Starforce is installed on my system. Bad experiences, hardware replacements. Ah, what I go through to play this game.

The .exe needs to be in the same folder as bins 1-5. Then you run the exe

installed everything up to GWX 1.03
Tried loading game. Get the Silent Hunter III has encountered an error screen instead of the Zentralle.:down:

Could you make sure you installed everything in the right order?

1. Clean SHIII
2. 1.4b patch
3. GWX
4. GWX1.03
5. If you use the 'you-know-what' it comes as number 5

Just want to make sure, b/c if you installed it right, there's only 2 options.
1) Your Hardware
2) Corrupted files

The GWX1.03 is a "mod" and can be enabled via JSGME with no problems at all. ;) Just saves the trouble of complete reinstall of SHIII if he needs to get rid of the files from 1.03.

Brag, after you uninstall anything it's always a good idea to defreg. Do a defrag, virus scan, and spyware scan before you reinstal SHIII and GWX...... just to be safe. You never know but there might be something in there that's screwing up things too, unlikely but you never know. Be safe and look for poo. ;)

At least some good news:

Deleted the career I was using.
Unable to start new profile.
went into single mission --everything operating normal!!
Later will try again start new career or resurect one of the two old careers.

At least hardware problem is taken care of.
I think my last career somehow caused the problem or was corrupted by the hardware prob.

Anyway, it was nice to get inside the U boat. There's hope :88)

Your previous careers are not compatible with 1.03. Don't even try them. Or has that been the problem all along?:hmm:

After my original 103 reload I continued my career. the following day the whole thing crashed when I restarted.

Presently, cannot start a new career.

Have not tried loading old career

Should I delete old careers?

Soreeeee I wasn't writing a new name--my fault. Got it now, will try new career and report back.

Got a new career. Wilhelmshaven 2 Sept 39 , U-46.
Band was playing, girls cheering. All hell broke lose as we reached the seawall. Bernard had a ball as I tried to maneuver the boat with the keyboard set to German.

We crashed into a dock, submerged did all sorts of weird things 'til I realized what was going on. :roll:
