Now that is exactly my sentiment as well

As a bit of a lete comer into SHIII, I still have lots of mileage left with GWX. So if I go into the PTO, I'll be late there, too :88)

KrvKpt. Falke 03-03-07 07:11 PM

A game about world war 2 without Germans is not a game about world war 2 :D
I'M staying with Donitz boys. [For me its the same situation as with MOH Allied Assault and Pacific Assault: the Pacific one was nice but i didn't feel anything great - just a shooter; i'm from Europe - so maybe this is the reason why i cant immerse into Pacific...]
I will buy SH4 when it will be cheaper and patched but i will not leave SH3.

leeclose 03-03-07 07:16 PM

I think that seems to be the general consent with most Europeans SH3 could have been so much more ubi knew this but left it to us the community to make sh3 the game that it is with out the ilk of GWX etc sh3 would be just another tired ole sub sim:up: . But being a sad git i would play it even if there was no GWX which im gload there is by the way:yep:

Gonna play SH4, but SH3 install is here to stay:up:

I have a bad feeling about Silent hunter 4, my feeling sad that the game will come with many bugs (you know what i talking about). I will not buy it until some proper patches came out :nope: .

Second - i don`t think that the new game will be as much realistic as a modded sh3 (NYGM and GWX). I will stay with sh3 for me grafics is not important the gameplay is important:rock:  .

leeclose 03-03-07 09:45 PM

I hope they have learned there lessons with SH3 and implement them in 4 but who the hell am i kidding there will be more bugs than a ant hill:up:

It's amazing to me to see the way the votes go. Obvious to me is the attitude of "Brits". They seem to be stuck with "their side of the pond". And given history, having no problem playing the "enemy". The allure of Germany is great.
Now don't get me wrong. I built German U-Boat models as a kid. I loved the look of the German uniform, their nationalism, just about everything they had was the best. But hey I was an American far removed the the Battle.
Patriotism for ones country runs deep. And as a kid growing up and watching "The Silent Service" series on Tv, depicting US Submarines in WWII, I was hooked.
So hooked, that I joined the United States Submarine Service and served aboard a WWII submarine. Are there differences between the two oceans? Certainly, each brings about it, different warfares...in essence, they got what they got.
So whether you buy the game now, wait until later, or wait til much later, you will play it. Just so you know what it is about.
To me I love SH3, Hell I love you guys for the fact that you love subs. But I just gotta play SH4 to see if it will make me feel like I came back home.
Just for the difference in the two, and the graphics, I know at sometime you will play SH4. Just like I will always come back and play SH3....It's in your blood..

Ain't that the truth

SH3 is my game. SH4 will be as well. Simple. Who knows what will be or not... it's US boats coming up, so who knows what might happen to sales... :know:

Remember kaleuns: First we pop up the persicope, then we shoot. Let's see it first. Who cares about a few bugs, the fact that it is even being made is more than enough for me right now!

What's interesting is that you don't see to many people for whom the Pacific sub campaign is the sole overwhelming interest. Europeans for the most part tend to be interested in the Atlantic. Americans trend toward their sub war in the Pacific, but can be just as keen on the epic struggle in the Atlantic.

I'm still waiting for that British Mediterranean subsim some day. There's a niche market in a niche market.

Eagle Eye 03-03-07 10:13 PM

I'm still fairly new to SH3 and GWX so I'll be in the Atlantic for the foreseeable future. I'm sure at some point I'll pick up SH4

I totally agree, plus GWX will keep this game alive

P_Funk 03-03-07 10:23 PM

If there is going to be a comprehensive source code development kit released would it be a crazy idea that someone would make the Atlantic war in the SH4 game system?

Steed, you hit the nail on the head. My sentiments exactly. :yep:

The only thing I'd add to it is.... I'll also wait for the bugs to be worked of of SH4 and mods done for it. And I'm leary of buying anything with Ubi on it.

Sockeye 03-03-07 10:34 PM

I have no doubt that I'll still play SH3 again after numero quatro comes out, but with SH4 I'm hoping to recapture some of the moments I had back with the original Silent Hunter. The Pacific Theatre has always held more of my attention... probably because the sunny South Pacific has always sounded alot better than the dreary North Atlantic to me :D

But there is one thing I hope will draw me from the Atlantic first and foremost:

A feckin' PPI scope!
:ping:

U-Boats forever!!!
Though i have pre ordered SH4 via subsim and will keep it on the shelve hoping that some one might beable to merge the SH3 theather of operations with the SH4 theather of operations. To have both games in one would be utopia.:yep:
